Hi hive family, long time no see and hope you are always healthy.
These past few months I've been busy with a new hobby and the arrival of a new family member on March 28th, well I'll write to you one by one.

The birth of my second son, my fourth child

On March 28, 2022, my fourth child was born at Calang Hospital, Aceh Jaya district. he was born at 3.45 pm by cesarean section, our three children previously were born normally, this birth was caused by my wife's unfavorable health condition, thank God everything went well.

Say hello to uncles and aunties who are in the hive community

he was born with a weight of 2.75 kg and his first cry was so loud that it seemed to burst the operating room, great man :)

I let my wife give him the name, "Rafka Arsha" a great name in my opinion. I am grateful that to this day he is exclusively breastfed just like his brothers and sisters.
I pray that he can become a big man in the future, can be useful for many people and always be healthy.

Welcome son, we have been waiting for you for a long time

Enjoying a new hobby

As I mentioned earlier, I'm currently enjoying a new hobby of making ship models, or you could say making ship miniatures.

My sailing ship model was inspired by the Black Pearl

I made this ship in February and it took me about 25 days, some details were a bit difficult for me to work on because the tools and materials were sober and this is the material I used.

  1. Balsa wood (ice cream sticks) at an online shop
  2. Multiplex 12mm (leftover from construction project formwork)
  3. Wood glue (I bought it at a hardware store)
  4. Multipurpose glue (I bought it at a hardware store)
  5. Cutter and its contents (buy from a hardware store)
  6. Manual jigsaw with saw blade (bought from a hardware store)
  7. Sandpaper, coarse and fine (buy from a hardware store)
  8. Grinding wheels for cutting (buy from a hardware store)
  9. Fabric for sailing ships (clothes that are no longer worn)

The tools I use :

  1. Manual jigsaw
  2. Hand grinder
  3. Hand drill
  4. Mini drill tool
  5. Paperclip
  6. And some other tools

Making process Black Pearl Ship model
First I perfected the existing ship pattern and printed it on A2 size paper, then I pasted the paper onto the multiplex so that I could cut it according to the pattern, it was a bit tiring because I used a manual jigsaw, a lot of saw blades were broken because the 12mm multiplex was hard material and it takes patience to carve it according to the pattern

There are indeed multiplexes that are thinner and softer, it's just that I try to use the existing materials so they don't get wasted
and this is the result and I have installed

After the hull is formed, the next stage is the installation of walls, floors and accessories, the varying thickness of the wood made me a bit overwhelmed when installing the walls and floors, the ice cream sticks that were fabricated with an average width of 1 cm I had to split in half to get the impression of the wallboard and floor.
I glued the balsa boards that I had split open one by one using multipurpose glue, this glue is very useful because it dries quickly and sticks very strongly, not infrequently my hands are also exposed to glue and I have to soak them in warm water that has been mixed with soap so that they will come off.

Walls and floors already installed

After sanding using sand paper

For the poles, I used 1cm x 1cm x 1.5m long leftover wood and used a manual drill to turn it and sanded it with sand paper, because I don't have a lathe so I used a hand drill.
And the result is not too bad I think :)

Because my children became curious and it was dangerous for them to participate in helping because I was worried that they might get hurt by a knife or get glued on them, I also helped build another small boat for them :)

After the accessories are installed, all that's left is the finishing step of painting

Before painting

After painting and installing the sails

Oh I almost forgot to make a spirit of ecstasy statue (winged angel and dove) on this ship.
I had to put some balsa sticks together to get the shape of the statue's body and start carving it with a cutter and sanding it using a mini hand drill.

The final result

What I did after

After I finished making the miniature of the Black Pearl ship, I decided to continue this hobby and currently I am making a miniature of the Queen Anne's Revenge ship, later I will write down the process of making it and it has been running for more than a month, I hope it's over soon.

A little story after I finished the first model ship, some friends asked me to sell it to them.
