Happy Saturday! A Garden Update....

Hey everyone! Here it is Saturday, yet I am still stuck here in the office. Day's like this in the middle of the month are slow, and since I have everything caught up upside, I just have to sit here, answer the phone, and show units. Being at 100% capacity, that is something I do not have to worry about. It's crazy out here, and the Storage Business is doing well! So here I am, in front of a computer able to share the progress of my little garden out in the front.

First up is the Glass Corn. It has been another unusually cold, and very windy week. Yet there has been some great growth overall. I suspect they are going to blow up here in the next couple weeks, since the weather is getting normal again. Or at least I hope!

The Peppers are still doing a little shitty, but actually looking better then last post!

The Tomatoes are looking good, and soon will need to be caged. No Snail activity either. Really seems the Eggshells are doing some good. Thanks to @trayan for the recommendation!

The Watermelons are really starting to take off! Again no Snail activity either. But maybe since it has been very dry latley, they are sticking near the large bushes, where it is usually moist, and always shaded.

I really got to start thinking of where I want each Melon to grow. I actually have been Supper Cropping to readjust each vine to grow in a certain direction. Now should I stake these up or something? Or just let them grow, and just make sure there is plenty of room for the fruit?

The Glass Corn, and Giant Sunflower's I planted on the side so we can see them from the office are looking good, and will full fill the vision we had. Which is pretty cool. I am a big fan of Sunflower's, and it's seeds. What about you?

The California Poppy. These things are almost invasive. I say almost because it is very much welcomed. Whenever they do major road work here in the state, they plant seeds, and then there is an explosion of Poppy growth. In fact before they did the road work here, we had zero California Poppy plants here!

I am not sure what flower this is, but it is an invasive one. It loves to grow around the roots of the Jade Plants. I had to eradicate it, but left it in this one spot. This is the area the Snails love! Hopefully they learn, and stay here lol

Another flower that I am unsure what it is exactly, but it is a bulb, and comes around once a year. It is so beautiful! There has been a few times the Gopher got a hold of it, which actually began our love-hate relationship. Everything here basically just grows wild, besides the Jade Plants that where put there in 1984 when this place was built. It's decent, and low maintenance. The smell is amazing! Which is one reason I am so happy I have been Cigarette free for over 3 years now, I can actually smell the flowers in the air, when before I was unable to.

Well that is all for now. Thank you so much for taking the time to ready my post, and be on the lookout for another update within a week, or two. I am all out of my homemade compost, so I may go get a bag of Worm Castings, or just use some of the Top Dressing I have for my cannabis plants. In the meantime, have a great rest of your Weekend, and have an even better Week!

Awesome garden, man! :)
cheers! !BEER

Thanks :)

my snails got trained by the terrain.. and managed to eat some more :)
so now i use @drutter's tactic ... to keep the soil dryer on the top :)
actually these bloodsucking home snails... destroyed many of the canna babies...
but i accept it as a training for the plants too... some of them survived :P

ps. the plants which were on a higher, hotter surface had no problem... also with no near contact to wet objects where, the bi~gender snails could travel onto and hook further :))))

Well, progress is progress! Our spring has been so cold and rainy that it feels like we are several weeks bahind normal. Still a lot of 40-degree nights here, and our wee tomato plants are not liking it very much. The strawberries are blooming, finally... Mostly we just miss having some sun.

=^..^=

I hear that! That’s one thing at least here the sun has been out. I wanted to grow strawberries, but those things always get eaten up here. Thanks for stopping by! Really appreciate it :)

Get yourself a bin and chuck broadleaf weeds and a handful of manure in there, let it rot. Makes a reasonable fertiliser to water the veg with and the peppers will love especially.

Congrats on the 3 years not smoking. I think I'm 15 years non smoking now but still fancy one occasionally, though never give in..

Some kind of trellis/arbor structure could be good for melons/ pumpkin to keep off ground and with added bonus of extra shade!?

Everything is looking awesome... Well done you and thanks so much for sharing with us..

Thank you so much! I actually gave In a few months ago hanging out with some friends. For some strange reason a smoke sounded refreshing. Well I smoked a few puffs and got so sick lol. Definitely over it. Thank goodness!

Thanks for the tip! I always am pulling weeds, just need to source some manure. Thanks for checking my post out :)

Hey @jonyoudyer, here is a little bit of BEER from @trayan for you. Enjoy it!

The glass corn is pretty interesting. It looks like it has multiple stalks right away. You don't see that very much with corn. It looks like the pepper plants are a nice dark green, so they seem to be healthy.
It's good to have some space for a garden, even if it's at work.

Wow I did not know that about corn! Cool to know:)

That is pretty cool that you can do that at work! Are you gonna cover that with straw or mulch?

One day maybe you can change careers to a compost consultant...

Thanks man! I was thinking of putting some mulch down. Would be cool to literally work in shit lol

ummm the compost is only 10% manure...
