I Put My Hibachi Grill Together....

in #community3 years ago

I bought a new Hibachi Grill. I had one nearly like it a hundred years ago and loved it.

I haven't grilled anything myself ..... in a hundred years !

I've had a grill or two since then, but since I've been on my own the last 24 years, before the last 6 or 7 years, I lived in apartments. One was on the 3rd floor and for obvious reasons you weren't supposed to grill on your balcony. I didn't grill much, because running up and down 3 flights of stairs just to check on it was no fun. Also staying outside in the Texas heat to keep from going up and down was.... no fun too.

Duh !! 😄

I got another grill at another apartment and right after I got it, they made a new rule that we could not have our own grills, but had to use theirs. They had one or two here and there around the complex and actually one wasn't far outside my apartment, but it was always filthy and caked with gunk where other people didn't clean up behind themselves. Cleaning someone else's mess before being able to use.... NO !! 😄

I got another small grill at the last house. Never used it ! No good reason !

8.jpg

I ignored the fact that I already had that small kettle grill when I saw this one. I bought this anyway. This bottom "bowl" is very heavy ! Good for using and lasting a while, but a pain in the rumpus when putting together..... although overall, it was a very simple task.

The side thingys have grooves a different heights so you can cook closer or farther from the fire.

10.jpg

Nice wooden handles to help them not be so hot if you need to touch them.

11.jpg

Little windows for the vents to control the air flow.

Slide open....

or close....

.....all done except for adding the grates. I like that they come off for cleaning.

Vwa-LA !! (Voila for those who speak proper French, however, I didn't know how to put the accent mark over the a here 😏)

I wonder if I am going to use this one. LOL !!! I'm claiming I am, but my back deck, which would be the prime place for small grilling, stays hot as blue blazes in the summer from noon till sun down. I'm hoping I will because I have visions of all things that are extra yummy when charcoal grilled.

I'm getting ready for spring and summer !

Hope you have all had a good day (or morning or evening wherever you are)

Love you to pieces !

Look at you go - reading the instructions and everything. Fancy!

I've actually always been pretty good at putting stuff together and I like doing it.

I DO read the instructions. Sometimes they are not that helpful....LOL.... some are worded funny. Most have the photos too, so that is sometimes helpful.

Me too, on all the above mentions. Projects are fun - the feel of something coming together, and the brain challenge that instructions written in poor English can bring.

Except for origami. My kids got a farm animal origami kit recently, and I hate putting those animals together. Give me a 5,000 piece thingamajigger with those silly odd shaped screws you have to have a special tool for which you will have to riffle through half your garage to find from the last time you used it 15 years ago, but don't ask me to do origami. After following the instructions to make a pig very carefully, and it still comes out malformed, it makes me want to throw things through a window...and it is even more annoying because it is too light to throw.

Anyway, that was a bit of a tangent.

LOL... I enjoyed your tangent !

I have never tried origami. My first instinct was to say that maybe I would try it sometime, but after thinking on how the end product is too light to throw out of frustration, maybe I won't. At least since nobody would be here to witness it, I could actually throw a tantrum, crushing it and ripping it to shreds, so for me, there still could be THAT outlet. 😂

there still could be THAT outlet.

Ha, yes! I gave up after throwing a tantrum, and then the kids hit up my husband. I distinctly heard him say after a few minutes: The good news is that this stuff can be used as kindling. :)

ha ha

Starting a fire with a pig'ish kind of kindling might be fun !

Of course you did! Well done! My mom had one identical way back when I was a kid. Had the windows and everything just like it.

I think the one I had 25 or 30 years ago was the exact one as well.

Well done! I just love all those little tiny pieces they give you and tell you how easy it is. I can do it if I take my time and read the instructions. :) Unlike a man, that usually comes first for me. Otherwise, I might as well leave it in the box.

I'm still impressed with your mad skilz.

I like that they have a removable grate. The larger grills have nice stainless ones and they burn and corrode and need to be replaced all the time. :( Seriously. I do love to grill, or at least I enjoy the taste of it. I had a covered patio in Texas and I HUGE live oak tree in the back of my house, so it was shady. Even then, San Antonio was on the other side of hell in the summer. Maybe you could get an umbrella and then you could tilt it to keep it shady where you are grilling?

The other night! Grilled! You know you gotta do it!

Yum ! Maybe I'll go tomorrow after the funeral and stock up on grillable meats so I will have to do it.

I thought about an umbrella or something last year, but never made it happen. Me so lazy. I still have all the good ideas, but my follow-through these days ain't what it use to be.

Unfortunately.

Meh... You always have this year, it is not too late to get one. :)

Did you get your grillable meat today? My follow-through has been lacking since about the 18th month of COVID. Some things just put a damper on life. I am not sure what I am waiting for...

On a different note, I skipped the grill and did Tuscan Chicken tonight. I will let you know how it came out.

No.... no grillable meats. It was yucky weather and I decided to wait till the weather was better to get out of the car again....LOL !!!

I stopped at Starbucks for a coffee and Panera for and sammy on the way home, drive thru of course, then home again, home again jiggety jig !
