Today I worked on the second scribble provided by my wife's students. She has only 5 girls in that classroom and 4 of them are named Sophia! What are the odds?
Well, this is one of the Sophias
And this is was her scribble
My first impulse was to draw a cat's paw pulling a thread, but all of a sudden I decided against it.
Once the eyes and profile appeared I knew I had to stay with it. I wanted to give these drawings a cartoonish touch, like I did with Saul's drawing, because they were prompted by these kids' scribbles, but once more art shows that it's not always what ones wants to do
This drawing had a minds of its own
I wanted to ask my wife some detail about this Sophia to see if I could veer the drawing towards something of her liking, but she was busy having her nails done and ignored my messages.
So, I kept drawing, not sure I was going with this.
My wife actually liked the result. She told me then that this Sophia is quite a sensitive kid and cries a lot. We have an expression in spanish for people who cry a lot, un mar de llanto, "a sea of tears".
Hopefully Sophia will grow up to be a strong woman who will not cry if the door is closed or if it is dark. I hope she likes the drawing that came out of her scribble.
