Hello everyone! How's your first month of 2022 so far? Well, for me, it's a busy and tiring month of January. Let me tell you why.
We all remember Typhoon Odette (Rai) right? Middle of December when this typhoon hit Cebu and caused different damages all over the city and the Southern part of Cebu province and other parts of the country. I have also shared here in Hive how the typhoon ravage the house we rented.
For over two decades, we stayed in that house making all kinds of memories. It became our shelter that kept us safe. It was place of comfort with all the trees and different plants surrounding us which gave us the vibe of living in a province.
Sadly, our landlady told us that they will not repair the house anymore and we need to vacate the place early in January. So we have to look for a new house ASAP.
It was few days before the end of December 2021 when we found a one. It's not grand, has damages due to the recent typhoon that time but it was a better one. I thought looking for an affordable yet comfortable place to stay was just the problem we have to face. But, moving into this new house was not easy. We need to do some cleaning, repairs, and the like. Plus, the packing and transferring of all our things, furniture and appliances, whoa, really EXHAUSTING!
Let me walk you through how we prepare our new home before we completely move in.
The house we found was not empty. There were some things left by the previous family who rented the house. We were told by the caretaker to wait until January 2 before we can start cleaning and do some renovating. It was also a good call for us since we were not yet ready to move to a different house. We still need to do the packing and sorting what to bring and what not.
On the 3rd of January, they (my parents and my siblings) started the cleaning the new house. I know that was not an easy. Are you wondering why I was absent during that time? Well, because I needed to report to office and do my job but I helped during the weekends.
This were some of the garbage we needed to dispose on that first weekend I went there to do my part.
Aside from cleaning, I also asked the help of my brother and the husband of my sister to do a room partition so we can divide the large room in to two. And to have my own room for privacy. So the house now has three rooms already. One room was occupied by my sister and his husband with the kiddos, one for me, and one for my parents. My younger brothers stays wherever he wants but most of the time he sleeps in the living room.
DIY room partition with the help of my brother who did the measuring, my sister's husband who became our instant carpenter and I, myself the helper.🤣
After the partition, I did the repainting of walls. As you can see on the top photo, the wall is very dirty even after wiping and brushing. So, I decided to have it repainted.
Then the moving of things slowly from the old house to the new one. It was not easy. Lifting, unexpected packing, then arranging. Such a headache.
Slowly organizing our own rooms. Still not an easy task. Personally, for me, I got confused on how to fit all my stuff in my new room which is smaller compared to my room before. And to think, I have already let go almost half of my things. I was still having a hard time putting all the stuff in my small room and leaving a space for me to sleep. But, luckily, found ways.
We have been staying in the new house for 2 weeks and a day but we are still in the process of organizing things. Even, I, in my own small space. But, slowly, I know, we'll get to have everything in order. Soon.
Is this an acceptable excuse why my first month of 2022 is busy and tiring? HAHAHA. Let's see how things will turn this February.
That's all for now. "til my next one. 😉
