Hello creative hivers, welcome to my blog, it's always a pleasure to have you stop by, I hope you are all having a relaxing and fun weekend wherever you are.
It's always exciting for me to share my sewing projects here, all thanks to you guys for your constant support, your feedback as well keeps me encouraged, thank you all🥰.
Today, I will be sharing with us all the making process of my shirt and shorts, it will interest you to know that making a short isn't as complicated as we might think it is, I used to be in that shoe where I thought shirt making were meant for top-notch professionals in big fashion houses, not until I decided to face my fears, studied the process for a while, of course, made mistakes at first try, and so far I've made so many shirts I've even lost count of the numbers haha 😂 with different designs, so I thought to share the making process of one of my recent design.
A shirt 👔 can be worn as formal or casual wear these days, it doesn't have to look too serious anymore, also, apart from the regular cotton shirt, other types of fabrics can be used as well. So stay tuned as I take you through the making process of this beautifully designed shirt.
Materials/Tools used
- Crepe fabric( floral and plain)
- buttons
- matching threads
Scissors, tape rule, and my sewing machine.
Cutting and sewing process
Step 1
I started by drafting the front and back pattern of the shirt, the front has two pieces, while the back is on fold.
Step 2
I folded the middle part of the front patterns, placing the plain crepe fabric at the edge as a design to form the shirt placket, which will be used to fix buttons and button holes
Step 3
I drafted a bishop collar for this shirt, and here I fixed it around the neckline of the Shirt and also joined the front and back patterns by the shoulders
Step 4
I draft a basic long-sleeve shirt, also using the plain crepe to make a design around the cuffs.
Step 5
I joined the sleeves to the armhole of the shirt and joined the joined the side seams, and fix the buttons. My shirt is ready😃, easy right?
To make my short
Step 1
I drafted my short patterns, two pieces each for both front and back.
Step 2
Next, I joined both front and back by the crotch area, adding pockets to the front,
Step 3
I made same design using the plain crepe fabric at the hem of the shorts and added waist banda
And finally, added a waistband.
My short is ready.
And here is how it looks on my mannequin.🤗
I had fun making this two-piece outfit of my shirt and shorts, I hope you did too following me through this process. Let me know what you think of this outfit, would you rock a shirt and shorts, I'm always delighted to get a feedback.
