I was supposed to have a dentist appointment first thing yesterday morning but they had electrical problems in the building so it was canceled. That meant my morning was a lot more open. It took me a bit but I got out to pick the cucumbers which had a moderate 14 ready for me.
As I was walking to put them in the cooler the mail delivered my new risers for my paraglider along with the new carabiners for my harness. These new risers have a C control handle and pulley that will make playing in lift a whole lot different. Instead of using a brake input which causes the wing to roll as it turns the C control causes the wing to turn a lot more flat with less roll which keeps the wing more squarely and evenly in the lift.
I right away pulled my wing out and began the switchover. I had to wrench my old ones open to get the lines out. I made sure to transfer each set exactly so as not to get a twist in any. I got new brake handles with them as well that got installed first on each riser.
I am super anxious to give them a try but have to wait for tomorrow morning with my co-op delivery to go fly again. The winds will be pretty mild so it will be just a sledder but it will give me a chance to try the handles out a bit.
In a fortuitous turn I was able to pull the Brummel hooks off my old risers speed system and install them on the line I am using for my speed system on my light harness. This makes the connection way faster and easier.
It was before noon and I made my way through the squash rows but only got just under 8 pounds. I have 120 pounds going out tomorrow to the co-op so I need o make sure I have enough today.
The chokecherries are in nearly full ripeness and are about ready to pick. So many are up really high that I need the extension ladder to reach them.
I was dreading it much of the day as I was waiting for my new umbrella to arrive. Finally I gave in and went out and began picking under the much smaller umbrella.
This was 12.75 pounds picked from only 4 feet of the pair of rows. The Romano beans are going to end up giving me about 100 pounds by the time I am done picking them this time.
Finally my umbrella delivered and boy is it a nice change. The silver is WAY cooler than the other umbrellas and I am super stoked that it is a 6 foot arc. I have all 7 rows that need to be picked so my day will be spent picking today.
My second load gave me 13 pounds so I got 25 pounds of beans from only about 8 feet of the 50 foot rows.
@stryeyz picked up the hydraulic oil for me to fill the pump with for the press. I really want to get the thing going and then moved off the deck and into the studio.
After watching Man Utd lose their "friendly" against Real Madrid we went to soak. It was a bit shorter soak as it was getting late.
Today I have oodles of beans to pick beneath my new umbrella, I hope to finish downloading the rest of the Cloudbased Mayhem podcast episodes of which I have 40 to go still, make sure I have enough squash to fulfill the order for tomorrow, and hopefully work on the pump for the press and get it running.
