I really love December, and I always look forward to decorate, make xmas food and bake. And for a few days ago did I dry fruits for garnish on my drinks and for decoration.
I dried fruit last year for xmas too, and I used it in my drinks, for decorating tables, decorate presents and my xmas tree.
This year I decided to dry two oranges and one lime.
This is really easy, it only takes a lot of time in the oven.
1 . Set your oven on 120 degrees C.
2 . Cut the fruits you want to dry. Apples, lemon, orange, lime, grapefruit, blood orange.. it's up to you what you want to dry. But some fruits needs longer time than others.
3 . Place the cut fruits on a baking parchment and put in the oven.
4 . How long they need depends on the fruits. I check on them every 30 minutes, and I took them out after 3 1/2 hours.
I think it turned out really great this year too. And I doesn't really care that the lime actually got burned, because I think it looks nice anyways!
I always let them dry a little bit extra in room temperature overnight of they aren't completly dry after 3 1/2 hours in the oven.
I keep them in a tightly sealed glass jar, and they will last through December! My Gin and Tonic will look great this year, maybe I should make myself a gin right now?
