#needlework
Hello everyone, I hope you all had a good day. I had a pretty hectic one but I managed to complete a good amount of work today so that's a huge plus for today's checklist. Anyways today i want to talk about this outfit, the first crochet outfit i ever made for myself.to be honest i always thought making something for myself might not come out the way in envisioning it.
This outfit was made so I can wear it to a fashion show in my city. I didn't really have a clue from the beginning so at first I sketched a black dress as my outfit. After a few days I started making it and I changed my mind. lol I was almost done with the top part of the gown then i lost the vibe for it and rugged the entire outfit. Went back did some research and actually trashed a lot of sketches til this one stuck to me and i literally scrambled this is it! I am not joking when i said i was acting like a crazy artist when i was trying to come up with this particular pattern [the perfect design for the event]
I settled for black and white which are my favorite colors and i didnt want to stand out too much but then I wanted to leave a lasting impression on anyone that looked my way. Making the shrug was fun the corset top too was fun but then the real work came when i had to make squares for the skirt, i believe all crocheters here understand what it mean to make a granny square project, there is no two ways about it or a particular short cut it will be as stressful as it should be.i would not lie i did enjoy making the squares especially when i had to switch colors and all that. Fun fact is I made the pattern for this skirt and owned it [the Doreen skirt] . When I finished with the squares I attached them together and it started bringing out the pattern I made in my head and the feeling of happiness I got was genuine.
After attaching the squares I had to put it together then trim out the yarns that were sticking out almost everywhere and trust me I am not exaggerating when i say almost everywhere. At first when I took a look at it I automatically gave up on the outfit. It took me a while to come back to it and get to work with the edges. I tried it out, it looked amazing and it was almost time for the show so I put it on, got dressed and headed out. I got really nice compliments and it felt good to be appreciated by total strangers. The pictures I took were from the event and I'm glad I can share it here.
Ps: the pictures used here belong to me and were taken with my mobile phone.
