It is almost 40 days after sowing the seeds. And now we are ready to sell them.

We are loacated at the middle of City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, Philippines.

It all started with the seeds. This pellet type seeds of lettuce are imported from Netherlands. The brand is Rijk Zwaan. Batavia lettuce variety.

This is 5th day after sowing. And I'm glad that the germination rate is 100%. I used coco peat as medium for this will be planted on a hydroponic system.

We used recycled soda bottles to plant our lettuces. We don't have much funds to start this small business. But after selling all our harvests, we will upgrade to a system that is much easier to manage.

This kind of hydroponic system is a less expensive ones. We bought the soda bottles for just 1 peso each. It is just like 0.02 usd each.
We bought almost 150 pcs of it.
The tutorial is here:

As you see, it is easy to do, but if we make a lot of it, it will also cost our time. We finished the whole 120 pcs for 2 days. But as I said, if we don't have much funds, we need to be hardworking for us to succeed our goals.

Another thing is the watering.
The first 15 days, watering is not a major issue. In my experience, I only water them 2-4 days interval. But as soon as the plants are growing, the interval of watering is lesser. On the 16th orr 17th day, I need to water them daily in the afternoon after the sun is already don't reach them. They need direct sunlight for them to grow faster but they also consume much water.

On my previous batch of lettuces, some of it grows bigger cause it was been over due of its harvest time. The interval of watering is much worse, I need to water them in the morning and in the afternoon. But the result also made me happy cause it became like giant lettuce. Next photos is what I'm talking about.

But the good thing about growing this giant lettuces is the customers satisfaction. Imagine you bought this lettuce for only 35 pesos or 0.70 USD. Will you be happy too?

Now let's back to my new harvest.

And as the time passed, this is the results. The hardwork has been paid off. I will just wait for customers to come and buy them.

Almost all my customers prefer to take care of them after buying. They just have to deposit 10 pesos or 0.20 USD for the self watering pot.
And additional of 5 pesos or 0.10 USD for a gallon of Nutrient Water Solution.

This way, they don't just buy and eat. They can grow their lettuce plants and harvest the bigger leaves daily while the smaller leaves grows and harvest it on the next days. It will save them some money and they eat fresh lettuces every time they want.
