First let me start off by saying I don’t think I’m an overachiever. The reason I have one WIP (work in progress) and not many WIPs is because I don’t start near as many projects as most of you do. That might change over time as my kids get older and I have more time on my hands but that’s just how it is right now.

Well, actually I just thought about something else. Another reason I don’t have many WIPs is because I usually frog what frustrates me. If a project doesn’t look good or work out over a certain amount of time I’m like done with it. 😄

The project I’m introducing here is not new to Hive. I made one just like it and shared the finished results 3 years ago! Yep you’re right, that’s how long this WIP has been sitting in a bag because I started this one right after I shared that post.

I made an egg apron to sell to homesteaders for easy egg collecting…

The plan was to make several of them in different colors but yea I didn’t get past making and completing one. 😕

The pattern is easy enough but there are a couple of things I had to guess on and figure out.

I actually made the pocket strips on this one way too thick and couldn’t get three rows like the pattern called for. Instead, I added a pocket at the top that you can keep your phone or whatever else you need in. I have since added a button to that pocket to help keep the items from falling out when bending over.

I decided not to sell them after all because eventually we will have our own homestead with chickens (Lord willing) and will need these aprons. I plan on making a couple more after this one so that my kiddos will have one too. Yep, I’m planning ahead for the land we will have one day, I’m very hopeful about it. 😊

So that brings me to today and the current apron I’m working on. Thankfully I already have most of the pieces made it’s just a matter of getting them sewed on. At the end I’ll add on the strings that tie around the waist.

Notice how the strips curve? This was something that was annoying when sewing the pockets. I have to be sure to keep them straight as I go and keep them lined up on the same row of stitches.

Of course the crocheting part was relaxing and easy it’s just the sewing part and getting the pockets right that made me shy away from finishing it.

Here is the layout of it. I am glad I was able to make the strips thin enough to have three rows of pockets now…that’s more eggs it will hold. 😃

Doing this challenge is exactly what I needed to get going on it again. I may even be motivated to do all of them back to back probably not 🤭!

I hope you plan on joining us for our WIP Challenge!! If you have unfinished business to take care of it’s time to get it done.

I speak for the WIPs! I am their official advocate and I say get to work people!! Let them free, give them a chance to live! Let’s turn those WIPs into COMPLETES! 😆

I’m looking forward to reading about your projects today and I hope you are as motivated as I am! Let’s have some fun!

Alright yarn, it’s you, me and hook. Off to work we go. Oh sorry, can’t forget tapestry needle 🪡 .

I shall return with progress 💪🏽 ~

It look so cute, i love your project 😍

Mmmm I feel a bit like a fish out of water, the contest is for all the needleworkers who have one characteristic in common, they always have unfinished projects, I think I am very different from all of them, I don't have unfinished work, I have ideas that They have a lot of time stored in my head, but I never leave half-protected, it's a bit part of my obsession with finishing things that I start at once, I couldn't sleep if I had unfinished projects 🥺

Thanks Irene!! 😃

Let’s celebrate that you do not have this in common with us. 🤣

Being able to finish every project you start, doing it from start to finish straight through is a gift. I knew you were a gifted needleworker but even more so now. I commend you for having such a wonderful habit of completing your projects!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

This is a very good idea. and yo are great, I don't even want to start a this much big project 😅.

Hahaha thanks @racn! Even though I sometimes complain about having too much to do I actually like staying busy. 😄

Being busy with this kind of work is somewhat nice 🙊.

It truly is. ☺️

I hope you can successfully complete your wip. Greetings and blessings.

Thank you so much! I hope so too ~ 😊

I congratulate you on having the courage to frog. I only developed it in my old age. Now I finally know when to cut my losses and when to just shelve something temporarily. I guess I know what is and is not "fixable" and have become more pragmatic with time. !CTP

Thank you. I have always been the type if I don't like something along the way just to change it while I have the chance. I could never settle or force myself to like something that I know I'm not happy with.

That’s good you have developed that over time, it’s very helpful and saves a lot of wasted energy.

Oh wow these were beautiful unfinished crochet you abandoned, honestly I understand being a mother is super exciting but it has a prize tag that comes along with it. It’s time demanding don’t really know but I know it’s a very tough part. In all those projects are really beautiful and I do hope you’re able to get them to completely

Yes, parenting is definitely demanding and time consuming. It's really a matter of balancing out my time and energy.

Thanks for the visit! I do plan to get this apron finished ~

Hi Crosheille :) Well this project is several years old but I'm glad it came out again haha. I've never seen an apron like this, much less woven. But I don't have much contact with the farm life so that's probably why I have no idea how eggs are collected 😅.

I like the thing about saving them for the farm you will have, that is the attitude to have: positive towards the things we want to achieve and they will materialize. I wish you all the success in the world with this project ❣️.

Greetings and this was a great WIP 💛.

Hahaha!! 😂

When I first saw these I was so amazed that people were making them. It makes sense that if you’re not into the farm life you would most likely never come across these.

Thanks so much for your encouraging comment. We must always keep a positive attitude towards things we wish to achieve!! 😃🤩🥳

I am a farm lover, my school vacations and Christmas vacations was spent on a farm, my dad had one, of my best memories, my childhood on the farm, it was so much fun. I hope you can materialize that beautiful wish.....

Now, regarding your WIP, I loved it, I think I prefer the apron with the rows and the pocket, it is always useful a pocket and especially on farms, you can keep a tool, for example, or keys, among others.

Hopefully you can complete it and have fun putting the pieces together 😊.

Oh that's so nice to know that you grew up experiencing the farm! We really want that for our children and hope and pray it comes to pass one day. 😊

Thanks for sharing your feedback on the apron. I did second guess taking the pocket out of the second one...you make some very good points. Maybe I'll switch off and make the next one have a pocket again. 😘

Mothers are known for their super powers of multitasking

But you @crosheille you are so creative and talented

That is true indeed! Multitasking is embedded in us.

Aw thanks so much. What a sweet comment ~ ☺️🤗😘

What an excellent idea to store the eggs, I should do something like this because I have to confess that I have a slight obsession with the order to get the eggs out of their box and in my house everyone hates my obsession 😂😂😂😂

Hahaha that’s so funny. You should totally make one of these then! I think you would love it. 😃

Hi friend @crosheille , Beautiful work. You really just have to put your mind to it and the rest comes on its own hahaha.

You are working out the details and you have come up with a very cute and practical egg collecting apron.

I think you can adapt the model to a base to make an egg cup, it would be very nice too.

Thanks for sharing your design. Regards.

Thanks for your visit @nexcis1 ;)

I’m following the pattern almost exactly as I have never designed anything like this myself before. I’m glad you think it’s beautiful ~

The apron is really colorful and attractive. I can't even imagine coming up with such an awesome idea to make something unique like this. I am very much delighted that I am part of this community because I am learning a lot on daily basis. Thanks for sharing boss.

I'm glad you are learning here on a daily basis. This is what I hoped for and it’s good to know ;)

I remember this project of yours. this is a great idea! 😀 I really like this green apron. I'm waiting for you to finish this!!!!

Thanks Tali!!

Yep, I'm back at it again. I'm glad you like the green. I have always loved forest green and I knew I would use that yarn for this.
😉

Having kids of tender age always keeps mother's occupy and engage, to the point where they might literally have no time to engage on other activities.

But then with time like you said, you'll have all most all the time to yourself.

These apron looks great and unique, I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it, but it's obvious a good way to carry eggs from one's homestead, I wish you all the best in setting up your own homestead like you envisioned.

And hope to see you later get to collect this project.

Good luck boss, have a blessed month ahead.

Yes, my leisure time is limited but between Hive, photography and crocheting I try to spend a little time on each when I get the chance.

Thank you! We are planning ahead and hoping to build something amazing for our family and their families to come. 😊

That might change over time as my kids get older and I have more time on my hands but that’s just how it is right now.

Lots of tasks await every mother. However, we are known for multitasking🤩.

You are doing a lot already with your hands coupled with motherhood duties. I am already imagining how huge your needlework will look when the kids grow older.

This WIP is fantastic, glad youu were able to resume the project, and here we are now.

This is my first time seeing a crotched egg apron and it looks so creative and fine. The softness of this material used will surely guide the eggs from breaking.

The pocket you added which can serve as a phone holder is wonderful as well

I can't stop admiring the creativity in you.
Thanks for sharing ma👍

Multitasking is my middle name. 😄

Haha yes if my hands hold out I have so many things to make and also my grandbabies will have so much needlework they won’t know what to do with it lol!

I’m glad you like the project. It will be of great use one day. ☺️

Aw thanks so much. I try to keep my brain working and stay busy. After hitting my 40’s I’m seeing how important that is 😅 ~

Hello.

These aprons are really cool. Once when I was playing I suggested the idea to my mom to make one for her. She thought it wouldn't be necessary because she only had a few laying hens.

I'm sure they will come in handy on your farm. You can see the progress of your project. The woven part looks very nice.

I identify a little with what you tell us, I think and calculate a lot of details before starting a knitting project. That's why I knit mostly on a small scale. I love to see my creations finished before starting another one.

I haven't knitted a tablecloth for more than 20 years, precisely because desperation attacks me. Leaving it put away to alternate with another one doesn't make me happy.

Very good this challenge, I hope to learn to do alternate projects and be patient.

Thank you! I am glad the project has gone smoothly so far. Lol we may not have many laying hens in the future either but I thought these aprons were so cute and appropriate to make. They also help get me excited for when that time of homesteading comes.

That's why I knit mostly on a small scale. I love to see my creations finished before starting another one.

This is really great. I started out this way but eventually grew impatient and began working on new projects until my motivation returned for the current project lol. I do want to have a goal of finishing what I start before moving on to the next. 😊

I’m glad you like the challenge!

Hi @crosheille I hope you are well, I love your knitting, it is spectacular, very ingenious. I love the fabric even though I'm a little afraid to dabble in it, but it's coming along very well.
I look forward to seeing the progress.

Thank you @lrscarmen! I hope to get it moving along here soon.

I appreciate your visit and comment ~
