Hello @naturalmedicine community, these days, I have been surrounded by beautiful energy that inspired me to make a mini xerophytic garden. A couple of months ago, I bought some cacti, but they have grown and needed to be transplanted. I didn't want to put them in the garden yet, as they are too small, so I decided to transplant them in a pot that will allow me to have these four specimens in my living room.
I placed all the necessary tools nearby to be able to transplant the cactus very delicately and without haste.
The two specimens of Opuntia microdasys, although their thorns are almost imperceptible, must be touched with gloves and be very careful in the transplanting process so that their ears do not come off. In the case of the cactus Parodia mammulosa, its spherical shape and star-shaped spines facilitate the transplanting work. The Austrocylindropuntia subulata cactus, also known as Eve's pins, is the one you have to be respectful and careful with because if you don't have thick gloves, its thorns can hurt you. Transplanting this cactus is difficult because it has several arms, and you must avoid breaking them.
One of the things I took into account when looking for a new pot was to give space to each of my cacti so they will grow properly. Although cacti are plants that do not require frequent watering, they do need some care. One of the things to consider is the type of soil.
Generally, sand or layers with stones on the bottom are recommended to facilitate water drainage because if the soil is always wet its roots will rot, and the cactus will die. But the gardener at the plant store explained to me that this recommendation is if the cactus is planted in a full sun garden.
The experience of making this mini xerophytic garden was magnificent. I can do it with the help of my husband and my son. This activity allowed us to share the immense love we feel for nature. It also allowed us to reflect that each living being is particular and needs special care. My personal experience reached its highest level when I placed the colored stones in the garden. I connected with the vibration of each color and had a special moment of meditation. A relaxing experience that filled me with a very good vibe.
If you have a similar gardening project, I would love to hear about your experience. As for me, I have to take care of this mini xerophytic garden, and in other posts, I will tell you how these beautiful cacti are growing.
