As you all know ( or the hivers that read my brainwaves put to paper ) that our sweet Charlie died 3 months ago. We had to let him go way before his time.
Eversince he died our other sweet Gordon setter Joey has been alone and was still sleeping in the same dog bed they had together. The last two weeks he was digging in the bed with his paws and restless at night. Someone suggested to give home a new place to sleep now that he is adjusted to being the solo dog of our family home.
I have to admit I found it hard to let go and remove the last thing out of the hallway that reminded of him but in this case, when it’s better for Joe I will.
I found a brown one in market place for 17 euro. When I arrived they had two and I choose the one with arched under side. The picture is from a straight under side. Both were same price. So I choose and paid. I picked it up last week and bought paint , plastic and brushes. I took spray paint aswell but with a paintbrush was best when I started and found out.
It’s brown color I didn’t like and I wanted to paint it white.
And I did!
So I started and painted the reed with two layers and that wasn’t that much work. I did it while watching tv and after three days with drying the bed was finished. It looks new and crisp.
It goes well with the white hallway.
The cushion I had I washed re stuffed with new stuffing and put it in the bed.
Very cosy and thick.
Last I put protector tilt under the 4 legs of the bed and it was ready to be slept on.
I cleaned the place where the old beds were and now with only one bed it’s even cosier. Its fresh and I like that the view doesn’t remind us so much of Charlie anymore.
Out of sight not out of the hart.
So the upcycled, recycled dogbed is transformed to his new bed for 27 euro. And some labour from his loving furrymum.
Here all the pictures from the proces.
And the pictures from a thankful furry child.
You see the white is extremely white and turned out great. The brown is gone. Again easy peasy. On to the next project.
So enough mum now go away and let me go to sleep.
I had fun and say in to the next project.
I will ofcourse share.
