Hello everyone, greetings from my humble self and happy new year.
So I had to work on this beautiful skirt and blouse. It was quite a challenging task to for me. Reasons being that, I had a limited time to work on the dress and the whole process will be a kind of tedious for me.
Due to the emergency of it, I went to the market quite late to get the other materials that I will be needing for it. When I got home, there was no power supply. I had to start praying for the power to be restored.
While waiting, I drafted out my pattern, traced it out, placed on the actual fabric and cut out. I did that for both the front and back piece.
Tools
Ankara fabric
Black linen
Zipper
Thread
Scissors
Hard stay
Tape
Chalk
I went ahead to cut out the flare part of the top. It was a 360 degree flare.
It was a three step flare. So I cut out the three parts of different intervals. The first was 9, second 6 and third 3.
It would the needing a linen so I did same for the linen.
I will be using this hard stay to make it flare part of the dress harder.
When light was restored, I Ironed the linen to the hard stay
This was how it looked like by the time i was done Ironing.
I sew the fabric on the linen right side facing each other, turned it inside out and ironed.
I went ahead to attach the front piece together and used the linen inside.
I included a zipper and the top was done.
I went on to cut the skirt and join.
Here is the final look of the garment. I finished the dress quite late. But I'm glad I was able to deliver on time.
My client really loved her dress. She has been thanking me for giving her just what she asked for. That is the Joy of every designer. The ability to meet up with you customers expectation.
