Yesterday was such an amazing day! I had thought that since this being the first Fathers Day without my dad it would be extremely solemn but it was actually a lovely day filled with awesome conversation and great food!
My friend Lily who is my family pretty much as well as business mentor drove down from Malibu to celebrate my birthday as we were not able to celebrate together in April. She works for Space Force and the Pentagon so she’s pretty busy all the time.
Our first stop was Nolita.
This restaurant earned a Michelin Star in 2019 but to be honest left much to be desired. Although I love arugula I believe it was used too much as a filler in every dish and the food was quite bland although I did enjoy the ricotta frittata and the Pim’s liquor served over iced tea. The view and decor was definitely lovely.
After Nolita we made our way to Zucherro’s for coffee and dessert. And what a lovely surprise to bump into the owner, Mr. Busalacchi! He was such a darling and treated us like family gifting us a Caprese pizza and sitting with us to catch up.
The lattes and Napoleons were delicious to say the least!
From there we headed to the Italian market to look for some Italian almond nougat but found none so we went to Barbosa for some Aperol spritzers and Florián di Zucca, stuffed squash blossoms! So delightful!
With full tummies we headed to my house and Lily had to work on some project so I decided to do some work on my work website too.
It was a lovely day and I’m thankful for my friend being here to celebrate our friendship and my birthday. I’m forever grateful for our friendship!
