As most of you have heard there is a hurricane hitting Louisana, My thoughts and prayers to the people that live in the hard-hit areas, with that being said we have had some rain from that storm also. We are a little over 400 miles away and it is a big storm, it has been raining the last few days here and we have been doing stuff between the rain showers. It rained pretty much all day yesterday and today.
We almost have the mobile home set up to start getting the 12 ft extension between them started, we got even with each other but lack about 4 inches on the back and about 2 inches or so in the front. It is time-consuming moving them apart with rollers. You jack it up move it the length of the roller then move the rollers and do it again. We can only move it about a foot and a half every time, so yes it is slow and a lot of work. In the end, it will be all worth it. We could have had a person with a tram for doing this come and do it for us but it was an outrageous price for them to do it, so we took it on ourselves. Slowly but surely! Oh, I have some pictures and will get some more and post them later.
I got some pictures where it was washing the driveway out, these are the mild washouts, the major washouts are further down the driveway, it is something we have to deal with as here it is mostly sand. If you remember when we drilled our well it was sand all the way down to 175 ft, with a few layers of sandstone mixed in there.
Down closer to the road it is more of a downhill slope and it will be washed out about a foot deep in places down there. So after this storm passes we will go and drag and shovel the little dirt we have and sand back in to fill in the holes. If the clay pit ever drys out so they can get in to sell us some clay we will fix the driveway and hopefully, it will quit washing out, we will have to pack some gravel in the clay to help it stay put. A work in progress!
To all those affected by Hurricane Ida, you are in my thoughts tonight and tomorrow. I hope if you can get to higher ground you have done so and if not thoughts and prayers to all of you. I grew up in South Alabama and in Gulport, MS area, so I do know what it is like.
I have a basic, very basic, plan laid out for the step van build and I will let you know about that in a later post and some of the other things I need to finish on the step van. More to come on that later! I hope everyone has a good night/day, wherever they are in this world! ALWAYS FORWARD!
All liquid Hive and HBD will be going to help us do the things we need to do here, so every upvote and reblog counts! Thanks!
