Garden Journal, Cleaning Up The Greenhouse Tomato Plants

in #hive-1406352 years ago

Hello, hivers and garden lovers!

Last weekend, I decided to start the annual end of season cleanup in the greenhouse. The tomato plants were first on the list because they're done producing tomatoes. As is normal for me, I remembered to take pictures after I had already started on the project.

This was the first picture I took. I had already cut back the plants in the first 2 pots. I left the marigold plants in the pots because they're still going pretty strong.

This is the rest of the plants before I got to them.

Here's the pots after I finished removing all the tomato plant stems. I left the roots in the pots for now so as to not disturb the roots of the marigold plants.

A view from the other end of the greenhouse. For some unknown reason, the marigold plants get really tall in the greenhouse.

Here's a tote full of tomato plant stems, all the plant material that I cleared out of the pots. There were still a few small green tomatoes on the vines but I didn't want to mess with them, so they went into the tote with the rest of the plant material.

The next thing I have to do in the greenhouse is to start harvesting my hemp plants so the buds can start drying, I think one of the plants is pretty much ready.

I will leave the marigold plants until last because I enjoy looking at them. Pretty soon now, I'm going to start setting up the winter tank for the pond goldfish in the greenhouse. I think that is probably a subject for another post.

That's all I have for this post, I hope you found it interesting!

Well done. Cool to see the progress.

It always amazes me how fast gardens are tidied up at the end of the year! We spend so much time prepping and nurturing - and then - it's all over!

And the marigolds DO grow tall in the greenhouse!

The process of tidying up the garden goes pretty well until the bad weather happens, then everything stops for several days...

That's a very tidy little greenhouse. I wish I could keep mine that organised.

You obviously have not seen the back of the greenhouse... 😀

Beautiful way to design a garden inside. I think it's more difficult than doing it outdoors. Greetings and have a good weekend @amberyooper
