My dear hivers and stitch lovers. Since December I didn't make fabric dolls, I am pleased to tell you that I have reconnected again with them, because soon a friend's daughter will have her birthday and the girl when she invited me to her party just asked me to give her a giraffe, of course I didn't hesitate for a second to say yes, because she is certainly one of the most creative little people I've met here, she is always creating something.
To make the fabric giraffe I used crea or canvas about 50 cm by 25 cm, thread, needle, pins, sewing machine, acrylic and fabric paint, brushes, scissors, cardboard for the pattern, stuffing cotton, a couple of buttons, pencil and ruler for tracing. To make the pattern, first mark out a rectangle of the desired size of the fabric giraffe.
Then from a central line I made the other strokes, for the circles I helped me with a cup, once all drawn, comes the cut, but for better symmetry I folded the cardboard by the center line that I marked at the beginning, so the pattern is all even, then I fixed it on the fabric with the help of pins and cut 2 pieces of each, as you can see I separated the ears and horns of the head.
The first thing I sewed were the small pieces, when I turned them over I stuffed them with cotton, not much, just to give volume and softness, then I sewed them inside between the big pieces of the giraffe, just at the top of the head with the help of pins, so I sewed all around the edge, leaving an open space between the legs of the doll.
Then I turned it over and with the pattern on top of the fabric again, I marked the giraffe's face, this way everything is in place, taking care of the symmetry, then I filled everything evenly, leaving it with volume and softness, then with a hidden hand stitch I closed the piece taking care that everything is well kept.
Next, I also filled the arms and closed with a straight seam and combined threads in the sewing machine, with a few hand stitches I joined them to the body together the buttons, for this process is super good the big and curved needle. Once the buttons are well secured, but with mobility, comes the part that I enjoy the most and that is the painting, it is always good to do it from the center outwards.
Keeping in mind that the special thing about my fabric dolls is their personalized hearts, so this giraffe wears hers with a design similar to her real life fur print. Ready hivers, the fabric giraffe at the request of a birthday girl, what did you think? The photos are personal records edited in canva. I'll be waiting for you in the comments.
