Mother moose and calf

in #ocd3 years ago

Good morning all, today I'd like to share a piece I carved this past winter.
A moose with her calf.

I've carved plenty a moose but never a female.

It was middle of winter and I didn't get a picture of the log before I blocked it out. It was too cold. But here it is after I lightened it up enough to bring inside.
I used gas powered saws up until this point.

The rest of the saw work was battery powered.

Next was details using a dremel and chisels.

Burned with a torch then sanded the char off, prepping it for paint.

Some browns and black shadowing with the airbrush then hand painting the white in the eyes of the calf to finish off.

I'd like to thank you all for looking and seeing what I saw. I love what I do and I'm happy to share. More to come.
Thanks again,
Jon
