Hello and good morning all.
Today I'll share a recent project for a resort in Alexandria Bay NY.
Customer wanted both the lighthouse keeper and heron to be able to hold lanterns for their entrance to the resort.
Here is the lighthouse keeper(and sketch) partially blocked out and laying on the ground. The log was too heavy to stand up on end by myself so I took some weight off him first.
Got him stood up and right arm attached, this would be the arm that holds the lantern.
The left arm wasn't going to work because there wasn't enough wood to make it look right. So I attached one.
Then refined him and attached the telescope.
Started on the heron, but didn't like the bird's head. There wasn't enough room for it to hold a lantern in its beak.
So I cut it off and gave him a new head..
So here he is carved and detailed.
Here they are together, ready for light airbrushing and varnish.
Customer chose a no paint, natural look.
Delivered to Alex Bay to very happy customers.
I'd like to thank you all for looking and seeing what I saw. I love what I do and I'm happy to share here on Peakd. There's more to come so stay tuned.
Thanks again,
Jon
