A wool sweater for summer? Yes, absolutely necessary on these latitudes.
Mom was visiting me and asked if I could knit her a sweater if she buys the yarn and of course I said yes. Though mom has special privilages and I will not make her pay for the yarn, besides, Mother’s day is approaching fast.
I dug into my yarn storage and discovered a big stack of alpaca yarn, which I had completely forgotten about. I had about 10 skeins in neutral colours and mom approved of the idea of me making a striped sweater from those. For some reason alpaca yarn is really cheap, comparatively, and very lovely.
I had her try on my sweater which has a similar weight yarn and the fit was good, she just prefers a higher neck so instead of crewneck we decided on a folded turtleck. Alpaca is super soft so it doesn’t itch even the most sensitive skin.
This past weekend we had the first day warm enough to actually sit on the porch when the sun was shining. The wind was really cold though but I had a blankie on the chair and it was lovely.
I had intented this to be a Mother’s day gift but there is no way it’s ready for this coming Sunday. I’ll need to take it with me so mom can try it on and but I’ll need to deliver it to her later when it’s finished.
