This week my son had new experience - he was involved into making of handmade ancient doll that is one of symbols of our country.
The event was organized in the local kids library where my son goes to take new books every week.
At first the library worker told kids about ancient Russian culture and handmade traditions. She showed them different examples of art created in different regions, told some facts about their history and development.
It was so interesting and useful!!
for instance, it's Gzhel - a traditional way of decoration using white and blue paints
it's traditional Russian toys - Matryoshka that is well-known all over the world
A classical toy should have 7 dolls inside because in Russian "family" is pronounced like "Sem'ya" and it sounds like "SevenMe" - so 7 people of 1 family.
it's Khokhloma - one more traditional way of decoration and painting using these main colors
it's a traditonal toy made of cloth
And in the end kids were proposed to make one of ancient Russian art dools - Dymkovskay toy (the name is devoted to the regions where it was created).
the main feature was using circles in decoration
Kids had Plasticine and a nice teacher who showed them basis of this art.
In 1 hour my son's doll was ready!
Some people noticed that she looks much like me;)) because of black hair I think;)
