Yesterday we had some fin activities with my daughter. We needed to buy some stuff from Dollar Tree. So when we went there i found a few cute kids’ cross stitching kit. I got three, with a hope that my kids might like them.
I was pleased to find my daughter loved it. She learned how to put the thread through the plastic needle and how to make a knot on the edge.
We also got some candles to exchange with kids’ friends. I’m not a huge fan of giving them sweets, but they are growing so fast, and I want them to have fun with their friends on Valentine’s Day.
I personally wanted to get only chocolate ones but kids wanted heart shaped lollipops.
Now let me share photos of our cross stitching process. You can see she can use both left and right hand depending on what she’s doing, just like me and my sister.
This little kit was $1.25, I think it’s great for the price. Also small kit let’s kids try and see if they like it or not without needing to spend lots of money on big kits. This is why I like Dollar Tree store.
So here you can see, how she started. It was challenging at the beginning, I thought she would give up. But she kept doing it, and came to me a few times to help detangle the thread.
I was happy she had enough patience for this craft.
At the same time she wanted me to help her with her valentines. So I made one and traced it on the colored paper multiple times. This set of paper is from Ikea, really good quality, and inexpensive;-)
While I was cutting out hearts, my daughter was writing notes on them.
She liked working on this butterfly that didn’t want to go to bed without finishing it. It was already late and I had to put the stitching away for tomorrow.
As a conclusion, I’m happy I got my kid into cross stitching, I think it’s a good skill. She can improve her concentration and fine motor skills. It’s fun in general like art. So I definitely recommend this fun activity for your kids. We might gift this art to Grandma next time we see her.
I hope you enjoyed the photos.
