A party is celebrated for many different reasons. It's not about wasting money or expressing arrogant behavior to show off. It happens because the group of people agreed to have fun once in a while. It's not quiet, in fact, it may be crowded and noisy but it helps to relieve the stressful way of life. It serves as a reward for the whole year of bone-cracking from working. Someone who has been working hard should take a break and a Christmas party celebration is a good way to enjoy life instead of worrying.
Money is necessary of course, we are having a party; A beautiful place to stay, delicious food and beverages. Yes, some are having a hard time but it doesn't mean there's nothing to spare. It is special after all so why thrift oneself when it happens once and the purpose is clearly to be happy? Also, it's alright there will always be someone who is generous to give more to make sure the celebration will happen.
Even so, saving money to have more food is not that bad. That's why, together with the friends who joined the fun, did the cooking. While some were in charge of other stuff like preparing the decorations, the locations to go to and games. The gathering would not be fun if it would just be about foods and beverages.
Cooking dried food was the best choice since it was outdoors. We fried chicken and lumpia, grilled pork, and the popular one named pancit. There was not dried food but only two types. We intended it so that it would not be a hassle when bringing it to the location. We went to a beach after all, even though water was not an issue; Washing dishes would not be hard but we preferred a paper plate so when going home there would be no more things to bring home.
Before going to our destination you could say that the fun or the enjoyment was there already. With people and with the things you'd been doing. It's just like a preparation from the main event but it was part of celebrating it. There was no introduction needed after seeing oneself for maybe not that long, but not all the time.
It's Christmas after all, a special holiday that we love most and that was the reason we had an activity like this. After it, we wished for it to happen again next year again and again as long as we still live. Age may differ but not the passion to be happy with friends.
