A Little Care, A Beauty Skin: Content Over Quality

in #hive-194848last month

My face without a pimple is a mission impossible
I don't have a good skin, too dry!
I wish I had the kind of her skin, so smooth.

There was almost no words I didn't say because of the dissatisfaction I had about my skin long before now. With mum still struggling with face acne at her age, I thought my skin issues will never go away since I took after her in almost every physical features including the dry skin.

Trust people to make things worse for you in that situation... They never got tired of making comments about how badly my face looked, too many pimples and acne. I also had this scaly skin on my legs, it was so bad that during the dry season (summer) it begins to peel off leaving my skin whitish and not good looking.

All that led me into the search for skin care products that would save my skin. And to do that, I never did it the minimalist way as I used just any product recommended to me that it would work. Let me not even talk about the number of empty skin care containers I keep in my room to know which worked a little and which of them made things worse for me.

You know the act of doing too much, no freedom or peace of mind and nothing changes?

I think that is the opposite of minimalism and it was my situation when I thought I could change my skin predicament that way. I was too clouded with the thought of hating my skin even more than I felt people hated it, that I lost the peace of mind that comes with being contented.

Well, nobody advice me to love myself better after a long time. Looking back, these pictures are from like 3 years ago and I'm surprised I wasn't even looking bad at all but the truth is, at that time, I didn't like my skin. I used all kinds of skin care to feel a little confident about my skin.

I remember buying different kinds of body wash, scrubs, soaps and facial cleanser, with the hope of looking better but for about a year now, I've gone the Minimalist way. Honestly, I'm surprised I could actually feel this way about myself and how my skin feels or look, what changed?

Mum influenced this decision in me greatly, she is a minimalist to a really great extent as I've watched her and even learned some ways from her. She introduced skin care aids for me and I've been feeling a lot confident about my skin than I ever did. If only we had lived together all my life, maybe I'd have felt this way from a long time ago but it's still good.

Now, I make my own skin care products from soap to cream and my love for good oil has increase. I make use of a baby oil on my body and a DIY facial cream on my face, a combination of aloe Vera gel and turmeric. Minimalism is close to nature and using natural things just felt so right, I've learned about the great benefits of turmeric on the skin and I created my own body cream with it.

Even though I'm using an oil I bought, I have other kinds of oil mum made for me in small containers I use every now and then. Things have been much easier, very cheap and convenient for me with these products.

The body soap I use is also a DIY product, combining turmeric and black soap. Mum made them and they do not only make my skin look better, it also brings this calm feeling whenever I use it. The soap since it's a diy is not well packaged or look good but believe me, it's everything my skin needs for a good feel.

It's not that I have a great skin since I started using these but I've grown to love my skin more. I don't go around finding many skin care products in pursuit of having a glowing skin but instead I've found the peace of mind that comes with loving myself, doing little and still feel like I have a beauty skin.

Talking about skincare, I have been in this your shoes for a very long time.

I started using this black soap mix I got from one woman in the market, I made sure I was religious and I accompanied it with oil because I don't like a dry skin. My skin went well till I started school and everything went down.
I don't really have time to do all those things again, as I hop into classes everyday.

I noticed my skin changed with environment and weather condition and some hormonal conditions. Some weeks I have a smooth beautiful face, some days they could just be rough.

But whatever is the case, my baby oil will do

It's the same case for me, my skin changes with environment and weather condition too. It's why I have stopped running after just any skin care product recommended to me.

I just use what I feel good using and wait for it to come and go 😅
Baby oil is just perfect.

Wow, that’s nice, making your skin care products. In a way you will know what is good for your body and what is not.

I am glad you were able to figure out your way. By the way your skin looks good😊

Yeah, I've learned more about my skin since I started this routine.

Thanks dear 😊

Wow, it's such a flex to be able to make your own soap and body cream. So you don't spend so much on these items.

I'm happy that you finally found out what worked for you. I am of the opinion that if you have to buy a lot of products for skincare then there's no need getting them at all. Stick to few that would actually and keep at them.

A big flex, it's cheaper and no fear of whatever ingredient producers use but don't mention lol.

You're right, I wish I had realized that much earlier.

I have never appreciated my beautiful skin in the past as I would be looking for trouble finding different skincare products which I wasn't good at choosing the right ones. I don't have pimples and my younger sister would always wished for such kind of skin that even when I eat a bottle of groundnuts and peanuts, it doesn't have an effect on me.

But along the way, I learnt to appreciate and be proud of my skin by staying to a particular product and it's been good all the way.

It's not about buying the expensive products and having different kinds at home, it's all about being simple, finding what works for you while sticking to it.

I also had the time pimples dealt with me whenever I eat groundnuts or peanuts but somehow, it has stopped.

I think this thing is kinda more of a psychology than just giving treatments to stop or prevent it.

Wow! You make your soap yourself, that amazing. You'll spend less and save more that way.

I'm glad you finally found what works for you.

Yeah, I do. It's saves a lot more for me. Thanks.

You're welcome.

Skin care is a part of health care and I think it's important although I am not so serious in the case of skin care. I only use face wash and in the dry season, I use body gel to protect my skin from being dry.

That's good enough, it doesn't have to be too much to call it skin care hehe.

I'm happy you got your skin in a better conditioner because being nagged about it is awful. It shows that sometimes less is more, but I think it's important to find out what key items are needed for your skin type.
I'm surprised you can still find baby oil on the market!

Thanks for your #KISS
I enjoyed it 😉

Yeah, I also think so.
Baby oil is used a lot over here anymore so they are available in the market but not as before.

Haha! I was just kiddin'. I thought Diddy bought them all 😆

Haha funny!

😆

Uhmm,DIY black soap? I have great testimonies in that regard.
I started using black soap exactly 2020- we all had plenty of time to learn anything on the net that year. And I started doing it for myself and even made a venture out of it,my skin was all plumpy and clear during this period, why wouldn't it sef? When I literally added all sorts of organic and active powders including oil just it could soothe my sensitive skin.
But my sister have stopped oo,Nigeria economy has reached my side. I now use ready black soap. When I don get plenty money I go go back to my first love.
@merit.ahama

Haha I understand my dear
But I hope your skin still looks good with the ready made soap.

Its trying but I can't wait to get back to my own black soap.
@merit.ahama

I hope you do

Note: you don't have to tag me again, the reply already did less stress hehe.

The fact that you make these oils yourself or your mom does is amazing. Like you said, appreciating one's self, flawed or mildly flawed is the easiest way to make up for those flaw.

That's it, I've learned better and I love it this way 😊
