Another commission I got from a customer!
She requested a totoro badge with a reference to me, so I redraw the totoro and added a leaf on it's head and she likes the idea of it!
This is a sketch of how the pin is going to look like, the measurement its not going to be 100% accurate since it's just a rough idea for her to understand what to expect.
After mixing the colour that I wanted, I use two popsicle stick on each side as the thickness measurement and rolled it flat.
Then cut the excess clay according to the paper cutout using a razor.
Tadaa
Smooth it out using my finger...
Then I made a small leaf and stick it on the head part.
After baking it in the oven, I sketch the features of the totoro using a normal pencil.
Time to paint the totoro!
It's pretty difficult to paint this, I spent quite a long time adjusting the painting hahaha. I think it doesn't turns out bad.
Finish it by painting the back side too.
Resin time~ UV resin seals the paint and also make the badge much more durable to use.
After it cured at the front, seals the back too.
Pop the pin on after the resin was cured, satisfying moment!
Photo shoot time! I really love the sunset light. It's colourful and gentle and it make photos looking pretty and dreamy.
Pin it to my backing card and here it's ready to find it's owner!
