Hello everyone✨
Jewelries and accessories are great but unlike other humans in the world, there’s actually a limit to the type of jewelries I allow on my skin; a limit I never chose. I’m one person who appreciates beauty a whole lot and whenever I compliment a person, I actually mean it. Jewelries alongside accessories have their way of enhancing the hidden beauty in people and today, I’m going to share with you a brief history about my short-lived jewelry life.
Right from when I was younger, I never really had the liberty to wear jewelries not because I didn’t like them but because they didn’t like my skin. I got terrible rashes whenever I wore necklaces and earrings that were gold or silver coated. At first, I tried overlooking these signs until this day when I wore a necklace to bed. I woke up the next morning and the rashes on my neck took the exact shape of the necklace, inch for inch. I was literally walking around with a “natural necklace”. It seemed quite hilarious that day but I made up my mind to avoid jewelries like a plague.
A few years later, as I went shopping, there was this choker that caught my attention. It was black and very simple. It had a little silver heart in front of it. I decided to buy it for a change. With the name “choker”, I thought this little piece of accessory would squeeze the life out of my neck but on the contrary, it didn’t.
Usually, I wore jewelries for important occasions and that was my intention as I bought the simple black choker but things changed. The choker felt so comfy on my neck that I even wore it at home on regular days, I remember sleeping off with it once or twice.
Along the way, the choker got tired of my consistent usage and so it snapped into two .I had it in mind to get another just like that but the ones I saw were either lined with silver or had lots of details to them; they were nothing like the initial one and so I gave up the search.
Few days ago, as I was planning an outfit to wear for an occasion on Sunday–tomorrow, the thought of going bare-necked didn’t seem right and as such, making choker felt like the best thing to do.
With some spare yarn, I began the choker journey. Unlike my other projects, I actually finished making the first choker in less than two hours (two hours because I had to get up on intervals). From my calculations, a person could actually finish this project in about 30 minutes or an hour.
Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when I started making this piece. Like every normal person, I had my concerns. In the end, it looked so beautiful. Too beautiful that I had to repeat the pattern in another color.
With the way I’m going, I would soon get loads of chokers with different patterns and colors in no time. Exciting. Now, it’s safe to say bye to the coated jewelries and hello to the crochet accessories.
What do you think about the chokers? Which colour was your favourite. I’d love to hear your views.
