DIY ruffled waist/ elastic waist Palazzo trousers

An elastic-waisted trousers/pant is a must-have in a lady's wardrobe because of it's simplicity yet classy look and the ease of wearing it can not be explained well enough until you try them on.

Baby pink colours to a faint peach colour have been one of my favourite colours. So having this colour in my collection of outfits was indeed a pleasure.

In sewing this outfit I made use of a size 14 measurement with a hip of 43 inches, a waistline of 32 inches and a full length trouser of 44 inches not forgetting the crotch length of 29 inches.

the front and back pattern, two belts and two pockets

I placed my cut-out pattern using the above measurement and added one inch on both sides to have the loosed look/feel that will accommodate an elastic waistband. Except if you are going for a baggy trouser look, there will be no need to make it extremely wide.

I sewed the pocket all around leaving half an inch on the sides of the pocket to ensure a seamless attachment to the trousers or pants.

I sewed the crotch area of both the back and front then placed them together as seen below to sew on both sides of both the back and front pattern fabric.

Ensure to leave out an allowance for the pockets on the sides at exactly half an inch from the waistline.

Here is the sewn pocket, which will be pressed down properly with either a steaming iron or an electrical iron.

Measuring around the waistline I determined the length of 45.5 inches which will be used to cut out the waistband, adding just one inch for sewing.
The width of the waistband is 5 inches as seen in the picture below.

I folded it and pressed it with an iron before sewing the two edges together. After which I sewed the unopened side by half an inch all around before placing the elastic band inside the waistband fabric.

I sewed and adjusted till I achieved this look.

Then I attached this ruffled waistband to the already sewn trousers/pants.

Taking the cutout waist belt pattern (44.5 by 1.5 inches).
I sewed around, leaving an opening to turn over the fabric before pressing it with an iron.
Here is the sewn and turned-over belt.

I sewed it at both sides of the trouser's waist, directly above the pockets.

And….

Viola!!!
