I found out a new skill today

Every time I try to get a labourer, I curse the government. The reason being, you barely now get people to work - the way they speak is like they are doing a mercy on you. I have been trying to get one person for a day only - even there was not much work for one day - it was not difficult as well. But it has been difficult to find someone and finally I took it in my hands. The working class is slowly vanishing, which is definitely a very bad indicator for the economy. The reason - the government provides everything free to them - and that too per member of the family. Each member of the family gets 15 kg rice at Rs 1/- , so a family of four would get 60 kg rice at 60/-. They sell 50 kg in the market in a little lesser than market price and they are not willing to work. Apart from the rice, they get wheat, kerosine etc as well. They sell everything else because they don't need them. And at whose cost - its at the taxpayers money. These people don't need much and they are happy with that low income and would barely work for few days in a month - that too only when they will need money. So they do mercy on us by coming to work. And forget about 8 hrs of work - they now barely work for 5-6 hours.

I wonder how can a nation prosper, when its people hesitate to work. Unfortunately some of these people even become addicted to the white poison - the drugs and do not hesitate to commit crime. Yesterday only, one such guy robbed a person in front of our house - snatched his mobile and 2000/- from a farmer. I wonder ,when the government will stop all these nonsense free schemes that will force people to work. A working person will definitely not do any evil. But hey, who cares. Everything runs here in the name of democracy - all schemes for the sake of vote politics.

Since I planned to come today from my native, we had to finish the work and I had given words to Mom, that it will be done. So I started the little repairing work that was needed to fill some cracks. Mom knew the formula, so she guided me and helped all the time.

Sand, cement, mix them well in a 1:1 proportion ( so that it is stronger), put water and mix them thoroughly. If it's a big hole, then give some stone as support and apply the cement on top of it. Need a bit of polishing, but at the end, we could get it done ourselves. Quite a different experience for me though but I was happy to learn something new.

Mom did put up some fire and created smoke - to prevent mosquitos. And she was the photographer. I had some plans for the plants, so after finishing this, I got back to my addiction. Replant a Chrysanthemum that I had brought recently. I am not sure, it will be fruitful or not, but no harm in trying to put it for better growth.

The weather has improved a bit, I hope we do not see any more rain. So nurtured all the plants a bit by mixing some vermicompost and seaweed mix. The ones, that I had planted earlier look all good - just waiting for them to smile with flowers.

Lot of work today - but it definitely feels better to accomplish something committed. Came to the city in the evening to move my plants in the roof top. And there is a silver jubilee meet for our Post-graduation batch tomorrow - it always feels good to meet old friends.

And by the way, I did not forget to get some apple berries - its always tempting and my wife is a big fan of them. I had put the picture on my whatsapp status and a close friend's wife requested to get some, so gave her a bit on my way as well.

Cool...I hope you get lot cool things from this small garden ☺👌👌👌🥃

You know the work of a very good mason. I really liked your daisy flowers. I have 5 types of it

You are mastering in every field.....rare gem of a personality...🙏

Blame the government 😀 - necessity makes us try.

The fruits of work are sweeter when the work is entirely yours. Just imagine how the world is going to change when we will have UBI. That's a reality a few years away, at the pace the governments are screwing the economies almost everywhere in the world.

Yes, and that is what the government fears - it will ultimately screw them after some time. So they try to do all kind of regulation, to run the show in their favor.

It is very good. As presently normally day workers are taking more than ru.2000/=. It too much. So some work we can do ourselves. Specially good for experience it.
I like very much like these flower plants.lot of flowers blooms. At our areas also lot of mosquitos in these days.

Greetings @sanjeevm lately unemployment is attributed to technological advances but some countries do not have such advances and even so unemployment and discouragement to work increases every day.

Technological advances are one thing, but who would love to work when the government feeds them to everything they need and give them a vote.

You have done a very nice work there, @sanjeevm. The flowers seem to enjoy the fresh compost mix.

Boss that is a universal problem I am believing. In the US I believe the working class is so demoralized that many gave up especially after learning how to survive the 7 years 2008 tanked the economy. People have stopped caring and its happened in my trade also, the flipside is if you want to work you don't have to wait in line long! Great Post

I can see that you are passionate about gardening, it is interesting how we can see your plants grow and look excellent, they even give away their fruits, that is the blessing of nature. One of the positive things is to learn new things, discover new skills that will improve in time, I agree, the government should support people to always work, be productive and that routine is not lost because that influences the economy of a country and the quality of life for everyone!

I am very sure, once they stop these free schemes, productivity will increase. At least, give only to old people or handicapped - if the young people are not willing to work, then its only because of these free scheme.

You are lucky to get more knowledge from your mom. She gave the formula rightly to fill the scratch. In this difficult time, doing every works from ourselves really useful and cost cuttin. Because currently masons and assistants take higher charges due to the economical problems. In fact leaning every fields being most valuable to us.

Well done @sanjeevm! We have the same problem here. You would think people would want to work to feed their families! We don't have white poison as a problem but alcohol is a big problem here. So if you find labourers they arrive drunk

So if you find labourers they arrive drunk

Feels very angry to face these situation - I can understand.

Wow, I had no idea there is such a problem in India. I mean the vanishing working class. Sounds very unsustainable and troublesome for the entire society of your country in future. There should be some incentives for those people to work... Btw very cool that you learned another skill. I know you work in the IT industry but seeing how happy are you being around your garden and doing this DIY handyman outdoorsy stuff, I think you actually feel better somewhere in the fresh air, doing something "real and tangible" rather than sitting by your laptop in the office, right? I can totally relate to this. I have been feeling it like this for quite some time already. I will always prefer the real world out there to the online / virtual world.

I think you actually feel better somewhere in the fresh air, doing something "real and tangible" rather than sitting by your laptop in the office, right?

Very true, I have actually dreams to set up my own business - do a start up with what I like - gardening - so we will give people ready to use pots with flowers or fruits - they take it use it for a month or two and then come back and exchange and take fresh. I feel, everyone should have at least 2-3 trees in their balcony and teach their kids to love trees and nature and care for them. For example, people here go to market and buy 10 rupees of flower every day. They spend half an hour. What if they get 2-3 trees in their balcony that would cost them same, but give them fresh flower along with the beauty and oxygen. Sometimes its difficult to choose what our passion is - there is no back up for us. But hopefully some day we will get there.

Amazing vision, I love it. Hopefully, you will be able to make it happen one day :)
