Happy and blessed day, DIYHub! I greet you with much love. Today I am pleased to share with you a craft with recycled materials. This is a repurposed paint can planter with styrofoam or polystyrene faux brick detail. Let's take a look at the materials and the step by step.
¡Feliz y bendecido día, DIYHub! Les saludo con mucho cariño. Hoy me complace compartir con ustedes una manualidad con materiales reciclados. Se trata de una maceta de bote de pintura reutilizado con detalle de ladrillos de imitación de anime o poliestireno. Vamos a ver los materiales y el paso a paso.
We will need / Vamos a necesitar:
- Reusable gallon paint pot / Bote de galón de pintura reutilizable
- Polyestyrene food trays / Bandejas de comida de poliestireno
- Paints and brush / Pinturas y pincel
- Liquid silicon and scissors / Silicón líquido y tijeras
- Jute rope / Mecatillo de yute
We start by painting the pot with black paint to cover the labels or prints.
Iniciamos pintando el bote con pintura negra para tapar las etiquetas o impresiones.
We mark and cut out 7x4 cm styrofoam rectangles, taking advantage of the take-away food trays we usually have at home. We proceed to paint the rectangles that will serve as imitation bricks. I mixed orange with brown, black and white to achieve different shades. Here you can see several ready-made ones. We will need about 30 of these.
Marcamos y recortamos rectángulos de anime de 7x4 cm, aprovechando las bandejas de comida para llevar que solemos tener en casa. Procedemos a pintar los rectángulos que servirán como imitación de ladrillos. Yo mezclé color naranja con marrón, negro y blanco para lograr diferentes tonalidades. Acá podemos ver varios ya listos. Vamos a necesitar unos 30 de estos.
As this craft will be a plant pot, we need to open some holes in the bottom of the pot so that the water can come out. I did this with the help of a hot screw.
Como esta manualidad será un macetero, necesitamos abrir unos agujeros en la parte de abajo del bote para que el agua de riego pueda salir. Yo lo hice con la ayuda de un tornillo caliente.
We are going to start gluing the rectangles onto the pot with liquid silicone. Make sure to create a design in the shape of a brick wall.
Vamos a comenzar a pegar los rectángulos en el bote con silicón líquido o en barra. Nos cercioramos de ir creando un diseño en forma de pared de ladrillos.
Once the design is ready, we are going to apply a light gloss to the piece with homemade varnish that I prepared by mixing equal parts of white glue and water.
Una vez listo el diseño, vamos a aplicar un leve brillo a la pieza con barniz casero que preparé mezclando partes iguales de pega blanca y agua.
For the final touch, we put some jute rope on the top of the pot as a decorative touch.
Para el toque final colocamos mecatillo de yute en la parte superior del bote a modo decorativo.
Now all that remains is to place some compost in the pot and plant a plant.
Ya solo resta colocar tierra de abono en nuestra maceta y sembrar una planta.
