"It's Better than It Was' Kitchen Reno continues & we found someone to rent the house!

We have this catchcry between the two of us that sings 'it's better than it was' whenever we do a little DIY. Perhaps it's because we are reassuring ourselves that well, it is an improvement and we haven't wasted our time!

Currently I'm writing this as Jamie is grinding away on the kitchen tiles. Now that sounds fun until you realise t's not some kinky sex practice but he's holding a grinding tool (don't!) and scouring away the top layer of grout so we can regrout it. The grout is coming apart (probably my bad grouting ten years ago) and it's very dirty. We'll regrout it a darker colour.

I also painted the inside of the cupboard that holds the fridge and a few other things. We made it out of very thick ply but the inside of the cupboards were yellowed and stained. The green paint is by Fusion, so it has a built in primer and top coat and wears well. They have some fantastic colours and the coverage is amazing. I really like the look and it matches the green of the sink doors.

We decided to go with white doors as they were readily available and a third of the price of coloured doors. The black handles are still on order and I'll replace the old silver handles on the other cupboards with black as well for a proper freshen up.

We have decided on someone for the house! She's actually a chef and she loved the layout and space of the kitchen. She's only 25 but we think she'll be great - she seems super responsible and basically thought our house was the best thing she's ever seen! She's down in the area from Sydney to get experience at Brae, a well reknowned restaurant in the area that we can never afford to eat at. You know, the kind where people helicopter into. She's not too experienced with gardening but that's okay. We'll get someone in to do a garden tidy up once or twice over the time she's here and just do a mega working bee when we get back. I think the house is probably more important to maintain, especially as it's fully furnished, so in the end we were far more worried about that.

Anyway, back to the grind - so to speak.

With Love,

Everything looks great as well. Love that shade of green xxxx

Wow, you've really done something very beautiful, at least from what I see in the pictures!

Congratulations on finding a tenant so quickly.

Your tenant is so lucky to have you as the landlord and the space looks so lovely.
I’m sure she’ll always feel at home as it already looks like a safe space.

It's such a big decision to decide on the right tenant. She must have hit the right chord with you despite not having green fingers. Good luck with everything

I’m glad you’ve decided on someone. I sure hope it works out well. And the green looks great!

Your kitchen looks very nice, And it is good you found the right person for your garden and house best of luck dear friend. Greetings. :)

Congrats on having found what seems to be a good tenant. Now you can look ahead into the great adventure... and take us all along! I'm psyched.

I'll be looking forward to posting something marginally interesting for a change.
