I made a beautiful blouse as a surprise for my friend

in #hive-189641last year

Hey guys, welcome to my blog, I'm excited to be here again after a while, I hope you are all having a good day wherever you are, I am as well.

I recently wrote a post on how I made a dress combining two yards each of fabric fir a plus size friend of mine which she was so happy to receive after being in a dilemma of the 2 yards not being enough for her to make a dress, what she didn't know was that there were pieces of leftovers and I'm particularly against wastage, so this time I decided to make do of the leftovers to make a blouse for her, still combining the two different ankara prints, but the problem was one was excess which is the green print than the other.

This blouse is going to be a surprise bonus for her, and I hope she likes it as well, so stay with me as I take you through the making process

Materials used

  • Ankara fabrics( two designs)
  • Zipper
  • lining fabric
  • matching threads

Cutting and Sewing Process

Step 1

I started by drafting out patterns, first on paper before transferring them to the fabric, the method of pattern drafting helps especially when you do have not enough fabric as it reduces wastage that might occur when you draft directly on the fabric.

So here is the front drafted part of this blouse, I mixed the ankara fabrics

And here is the back part, since the plain green part is excess, it takes the whole of the back part.

Step 2

I ironed interfacing(air stay) on the wrong part of the fabric then joined the front patterned pieces together

I also joined the back patterned piece together

Step 3

There will be a zipper at the front of the blouse, so here, I prepared the zipper before joining it to the main part of the blouse, by attaching it to a strip of the other lesser ankara fabric.

step 4

The neck will be a bishop collar, and this is how it looks after cutting and joining, before attaching it to the neckline

Step 5

Finally, I cut out a cup sleeve, since I didn't have much fabric left for any bigger sleeves, and sewed it around the armhole, after which I turned the main fabric with its lining which I joined as same as the main fabrics

And here is the beautiful final look,

I had nothing left after making this blouse, and I'm glad to be able to have it completed before it got exhausted.

What do you think about how I combined the fabrics to make this beautiful blouse? I would love your feedback, as I always look forward to them.

Thank you for visiting my blog, do enjoy the rest of your day.
