Beautiful morning to you all. As a DIYer who create things or have things to market, it is important to know how to create quality pictures. If you create valuable and quality products but find it hard to get quality pictures of them, it might be difficult to get sales. Good pictures goes a long way in attracting customers.
Some might think you have to go to a professional photographer in order to get a quality picture or you have to go to their studio, I'm here to say that's not true. I used to think that at some point too. I was even thinking of taking my bags to a studio to have a professional photographer take them. Then I thought, how often will I be going as I create almost everyday. I also considered the cost which will be much. This made me decide to turn my room into a mini studio for my products.
To get my room ready, I only needed a few things which I will be listing below.
- Mini wallpaper
- Paper tape
- Table and wall (or chair)
- Turning table(optional based on the product)
- Ringlight(optional but necessary)
- Flower vase (optional)
To get all these, you can easily go instagram and search for photography prop seller which was what I did. They sell series of wallpapers, ring light, camera stands and everything you need to get your room ready. You should note that, it's necessary to get a wallpaper that represent your products. For example, as a cook you can get wallpaper that have kitchen as it's background. Like me, I got a plain white and also another that looks like a textured wall so my bags can pop out.
THE SIGNIFICANT OF THE PROPS
For the ring light, it helps to enhance the picture. I find it very useful whenever I want take my pictures because the set up is in my room and my room is always not bright. We are in rainy season which means, most days I get very low natural light. The ring light helps to illuminate my pictures and makes them come out nice. To substitute for ringlight (if you cant afford it), you can snap your pictures outside. You'd just place the wallpaper on a chair, take it outside and snap.
I decided to get a turning table because it rotate and show all the sides of the bag. You can also use it for showcasing shoes and other products. The flower vase is to give my picture a pop of color and give the picture additional beauty.
THE FIRST SETUP
Since I got 2 wallpapers I can get up to 4 different backgrounds but in this post, I will be showing us how I manipulate them to get 3 backgrounds.
- The first thing I usually do is to tape the upper part of the textured wallpaper to the wall as seen below. Then I connect the ring light to a light source and then take my picture.
- Next I place my bag.
