Frustratingly Hivers these busted highend dual driver Shure earbuds have been sitting in my draw for a couple of years. Annoying because the sound quality is amazing.
This style of Shure earbuds the SE and Aonic series have a flaw the plastic tube that the sleeves fit onto are quite thin and do break off.
I did try and epoxy the tube back on but it never lasted and I always end up with the sleeve stuck in my ear when it breaks off.
Shure will send you a single replacement earbud at a price but last time I checked it was over half the cost of a new set of earbuds with the postage so that’s not going to happen.
It's obviously a common problem because the Chinese have a fix they have started cloning the plastic bits for a DIY repair at £15 which has got to be worth a punt. I suspect they are ripping off the whole earbud too at a fraction of the cost but what the quality will be like I have no idea..
So on with the repair. For sorting the earbud are a pain to split so time to bust out the blu-tack and dermal.
Then split them with a board screwdriver easy.
Take care not to damage the driver or stupidly thin wires.
The new shells are a perfect fit just remember to keep the silicone seals on the drivers and plug.
There is a screw that holds the 2 shells together but I’ll probably add some superglue at some stage to seal them and finish the job.
So there it is Hivers quite an easy fix as long as you don’t break the wires to the drivers and better than throwing an expensive pair of buds away because one side is busted which almost happened.
