Repairing my manual air pump.

in #hive-1896412 years ago

Since a couple of months ago my air pump was damaged, this happened because of the friction generated by the heating of the base, for this reason I had not been able to fill my balls or the bike, then I decided to repair my air pump, but first I should mention that this object is very important and valuable to me, since my father gave it to me years ago, in those days I had a Scooter, and with the air pump I filled the tires, since this pump can reach a maximum pressure of approximately 140 PSI, although normally the meter does not reach that figure.

At first, the idea was to open some holes in the main tube, but the material was iron, and it would be complicated because I didn't have the necessary tools. Another option was to glue the pipe to the base, since the inner part of the pipe has a rubber that was attached to the base, but this had worn out and would not last the repair; the third and last opinion was to use wire and attach the base to the pipe, so that was the ideal option.

Materials.

  • I used a hammer, pliers and wire, so it would be easier to manipulate and shape the wire.

The first step was to heat the wire and open a hole in the base, although it looked easy, it took several minutes because the base material was tough.

After drilling, I divided the wire in half, and the excess parts I twisted upwards, then I put more wire over the excess parts, but it had to be tight, for this I used the pliers, then I joined the two wires and made several twists.

Once finished, now I was ready to close the lid that holds everything inside the air pump.

Finally, I made a test with the bicycle and the air pump was perfect, that is, the inner tube of the tires was carried to perfection, and the pressure was maintained properly.
