Hello friends, I am very happy to participate in the challenge of our dear community as I love flowers. If you want to know more details about this initiative visit this link where you will find the guidelines and for sure you will love it and you will be encouraged to participate.
Today I want to show you step-by-step how to make a floral arrangement for your office or home with natural flowers in an unconventional but beautiful vase with a rustic touch. This vase will be made from recycled corn leaves and a plastic bottle.
Corn is an important food in the Latin American diet. It is a food consumed for centuries, and therefore, in addition to taking advantage of its grains, corncob and leaves are used to make some traditional foods, handicrafts, and basketry.
In Latin American cuisine, corn leaves can be used fresh or dried. They are used to wrap corn dough or to cook them. These corn pies can be filled with meat or chicken. They are delicious!
You can dry your corn leaves or you can buy them already dried in local markets. If you buy them in the local markets, you must select them and wash them well before using them, either to prepare pies or crafts.
I don't want to make any more preambles so let's get down to work!
All-purpose glue
Scissors (conventional and gardening)
Plastic bottle
Cutter
Colored stamens
Corks
Measuring ruler
Markers
Blunt needle
Natural flowers
With a brush, wash them well. Dry them with absorbent paper and place them in a well-ventilated place.
Cut those sections of the leaves that are broken.
Measure the plastic bottle at 16 cm height.
Mark with a pencil and cut with a cutter.
Put some glue on the base of the plastic bottle and glue the dried corn husks little by little until the bottle is completely covered.
Leave one centimeter between the edge of the bottle and wrap a colored worsted ribbon around the bottle. Tie a knot and leave the ends free.
To decorate the ends of the yarn, you can color them with wooden beads or pieces of cork. Cut wine corks with a sharp knife. Try to cut pieces 1 cm thick.
Pass the tip of the staple through a blunt needle and put it through the cork. Tie a knot at the end.
To give it a cute touch, you can place a couple of buttons on the cork circles. Place a little glue in the center, and that's it. Cut off the leftover yarn.
You can also place some colored yarn at the base of our vase. Border the base with glue and carefully adhere to the yarn of your choice.
You can cut a few of the parts that protrude from the tips of the corn leaves.
Look how nice it looks!
Once the vase is ready, we fill it with water only up to 3/4 of its capacity.
Have some flowers and green foliage on hand. Try to have a variety of them to make a colorful arrangement.
Place foliage on both sides of the arrangement. It will frame the flowers that will be placed inside the arrangement.
Place some flowers at the front. Try to make them flowers that have a little fall, so they will integrate naturally to the edge of the vase, and it will look beautiful.
Place the rest of the flowers giving a little height to the arrangement. Try to make it look natural despite having some symmetry.
Once finished, you can place this arrangement in a special place. It can be on the dining table. Perhaps on your desk at work.
It is a very original flower arrangement. You can make it as a gift. The best thing is that it is a way to recycle some materials and give them a utilitarian use.
