Hello, wonderful people of Hive!

Ho ho ho! Christmas is around the corner! Could you smell its sweet and festive scent too? Mhmmm! Surely, people in their homes had prepared and decorated Christmas trees a couple of weeks ago, at the start of December, or the start of Advent Day (the fourth Sunday before Christmas).

The shine and the sparkle of the Christmas tree bring warmth, joy, and merrymaking to home. Everyone will agree that decorating a Christmas tree is one of the most memorable moments of getting ready for the most joyful season of the year. And who would not love to experience these wonderful feelings?

As much as we want to, we couldn't deny the fact that making a Christmas Tree and decorating one requires effort, money and time. So with my packed up a schedule and tight budget, imagine how thankful I am to finally pull out and decorate my Christmas Tree using my DIY bows and sparkle flowers made of plastic bottles, and some old Christmas ornaments I have.

Hence in this blog, I'll be sharing my Last-minute Christmas decorations featuring the simple DIYs that I made just today. December 23rd, a night before Christmas Eve.

DIY Ribbons

One thing I always considered in decorating and creating something is the cost of materials that I will use. I always prefer the low-cost ones yet attractive and pretty just like the ribbons or lace that I used.

The Details:

Materials:

-ribbons/laces ๐ŸŽ€
-tie wire ๐Ÿชข
-scissors โœ‚๏ธ
-some good music to enjoy while doing the stuff.๐Ÿ˜‰

๐ŸŽ€ I used 3 different colored ribbons. The first one is a combination color of yellow green&orange, then the purple&green and the last one is the checkered one.

๐ŸŽ€ I cut the 3 different laces with different sizes and styles to have a variation. You can have a specific measurement to achieve uniformity of the bows or do it at your desired size. I do the latter.

IMG_20221223_191059.jpg

๐ŸŽ€ Making the bows is fast and easy. You just have to fold the laces and tied them at the center. In my case, I use those tiny bronze wires inside an electric wire. I used this because we have plenty of this at home.

๐ŸŽ€ For the folding of the ribbons, fold twice (one on each side)if you want to have a single bow. Whereas if you want to have a double bow, fold fourth times (twice on each side). After folding, hold the center part of the ribbon firmly and then tie it with any wires you prepare.

๐ŸŽ€ Repeat and enjoy the process and in a couple of minutes, you will have plenty of bows with you!

๐ŸŽ€ I also added another pink ribbon to have some bright-colored bows on my Tree. The lace I used is a cake box's lace kept by my sister for quite a while now.

DIY Sparkle flower made of Plastic Bottle.

I also include on the decoration my long-time DIY Sparkle flower made of a plastic bottle. I had these flowers with me since 2019. I used to decorate these flowers on my Classroom's Christmas Tree.

How to make this?

๐ŸŒธGather plastic bottles of uniform size. I use Coke bottles in mine. Next, cut the bottom part and cut out the body of the bottle with caps into a petal shape. Bend the petals (cut bottled) backward to emphasize a flower.

IMG_20221223_215531.jpg

๐ŸŒธNext, put Glue on the petals and sprinkle your desired colored dust onto them. I used Gold and red in my flower.

IMG_20221223_215457.jpg

๐ŸŒธDo not remove the cap, instead, put a hole into it so you can put the wire (holder) into the flower.

Additional Decorations:

  1. Old Christmas Ornaments: Balls and flowers.

I used some of the Christmas Decor I have kept with me since then. Though some are already broken, I am happy that I was able to recycle some of them!

The lights!

Lastly, Christmas Tree wouldn't be complete without the lights at night. Thankfully I was able to recover two of my old Christmas Lights. Hehe. I had to clean the Christmas lights before I got to use them because of the dirt it acquires over the years.
