I bought a mill. A knitting mill !
Knitting mills are used to make strings l. Found strings to use on clothing, make shapes and make names.
I wanted to make a nursery gift and started out yesterday to try and see what I could make with it.
You make the string using yarn and the mill and when it’s finished you out in a thread of metal. I used garden thread because I didn’t have other silver wire.

So that’s the plan.
When you look at the YouTube video it’s explained what to do. You need to lead the tread throug the tunnel and secure a weight at the end of the trying returning from the tunnel. Than the four hooks 🪝 carry the threads as you wind the mill clockwise.
I did some trials but it’s very easy.
I bought the mill from the teacher for 10 euros. The yarn was already in my possession so it’s not a very expensive gift if you did the diy. The internet has so many ideas, colors and names that there is one for. Your tasting for sure.
I made a name and a hart.
Again I will use garden wire untill I have some silver easy bendable wire.
The internet has all kind of shapes you can copy and layer the wire on the page and make the shapes you want.
This DIY project is easy, fun and cheap to make something personalised as a present.
So far so good. I will need some more hours to get to a satisfyingly end result and present but that’s ok.
I thinks it’s genius that such a small device and by just turning the handle you get this.
