Hello dear friends, I hope you are all feeling very well, especially in this beautiful community of creative people who love jewelry, for this reason and joining that feeling I want to share with you a necklace that I made of the powerful and legendary Hamsa symbol, also known as the Hand of Fatima, a symbol of the ancient Near East, shared by cultures such as the Arabs and the Hebrews. I was able to read some information where I can summarize that it is a kind of amulet that represents the protective hand of God on whoever wears it, it protects from the negative feelings of other people, beyond its meaning I really like its design since It seems like a friendly symbol to me, since it is an outstretched hand, I added a flower and also an eye in the middle that represents wisdom. Hola queridos amigos, espero que todos se encuentren muy bien, especialmente en esta hermosa comunidad de personas creativas que adoran la bisutería, por ello y uniéndome a ese sentimiento quiero compartir con ustedes un collar que hice del poderoso y legendario símbolo Hamsa, también conocido como la Mano de Fátima, un símbolo del antiguo cercano oriente, compartido por culturas como la árabe y los hebreos. Pude leer alguna información donde puedo resumir que se trata de una especie de amuleto que representa la mano protectora de Dios sobre aquel que lo porte, protege de los sentimientos negativos de otras personas, más allá de su su significado me gusta mucho su diseño ya que me parece un símbolo amigable, ya que es una mano extendida, yo le agregué una flor y también un ojo en el medio que representa la sabiduría. A very large piece of wood was not needed, a 3 centimeter piece is more than enough, as it is an amulet the important thing is to preserve its shape beyond its size. So I prepared the wood, cutting it and also sanding it, the materials to use are the inseparable stationery knives and a pencil for drawing.
No se necesitó un trozo de madera muy grande, con uno de 3 centímetros es más que suficiente, como es un amuleto lo importante es conservar su forma más allá de su tamaño. Así que preparé la madera, cortándola y también lijándola, los materiales a utilizar son las inseparables navajas de papelería y un lápiz para dibujar.

The design for the drawing is very simple, there are many models on the internet, people usually add more details apart from their particular way of adding art. I made this in a simple way for the purposes of carving it without difficulties, since the smaller the wood is, the easier it can be damaged.
El diseño para el dibujo es muy sencillo, en internet abundan muchos modelos, las personas suelen agregarle más detalles a parte de su forma particular de agregarle arte. Yo hice esta de forma sencilla para los fines de poder tallarla sin dificultades, ya que la madera mientras más pequeña es más fácil de que se pueda estropear.

I began to carve the part where the 3 fingers are, I started there since at the tip of the fingers I saw that it would be difficult to shape it, so I did it little by little, taking all the time to concentrate, I also used the sandpaper so that It would be circular.
Comencé a tallar la parte donde se encuentren los 3 dedos, comencé por ahí ya que en la punta de los dedos vi que sería difícil darle forma por lo que lo hice poco a poco tomándome todo el tiempo para concentrarme, utilicé también la lija para que quedara circular.

In the same way I made the cuts this time on the palm, circularly following the outline of the drawing. Observe how all the fingers turned out, another important detail was to make cuts in the flower with the small knife, the objective is to make it and highlight it and make it noticeable that it is on top of the hand.
De la misma forma hice los cortes esta vez en la palma, de forma circular siguiendo el trazo del dibujo. Observen como quedaron todos los dedos, otro detalle importante fue hacer con la navaja pequeña cortes en la flor, el objetivo es hacerla y sacarle relieve y se note que está encima de la mano.

I am also then removing all the portions of wood necessary so that the flower can become visible. I do it by sectors to make sure that the cuts are made correctly and not damage the wood, also so that each cut is in perfect level with the previous ones.
Asimismo voy retirando entonces todas las porciones de madera necesaria para que la flor pueda hacerse visible. Lo voy haciendo por sectores para asegurarme de que los cortes se hagan bien y no estropear la madera, también para que cada corte quedara en perfecto nivel con los anteriores.

Lastly and the most important thing for me was to make the eye, this was smaller so I had to make it noticeable, so I made the cuts with the small knife but to remove the wood I used this sharp metal tip, useful for these cases , so little by little I removed the wood. To finish, as I always do with the wooden piece, I finish by giving it a varnish bath.
Por último y lo más importante para mi fue hacer el ojo, este era más pequeño así que debía hacer que se notara, asi que hice los cortes con la navaja pequeña pero para retirar la amdera utilicé esta punta afilada de metal, útil para estos casos, así poco a poco quité la madera. Para finalizar, como siempre hago a la pieza de madera termino dándole un baño de barniz.
