Hello, Dear Hivers! | Hola, Queridos Hivers!
Last Wednesday, was my grandfather's birthday, and for the first time in a while (because of the pandemic) they asked us to join the celebration, so I decided to make a special gift.
Some birthdays ago, I gave my grandpa a portrait of he as a child, and he told me he wanted one of how he was (and how he still is: old LOL). I was willing to do it, but one thing led to another, aaaaaaand I didn't do it... Until now. 😌
My mom reminded me of his birthday two days before, enough time to work on his portrait.
Of my art techniques, I chose to use acuarella, because I took this as an opportunity to try something new, and I had never made a portrait with acuarella, so...
He's not a photo-man, so it was hard to find a picture to guide me, and when I found one, he had a hat on 🙃, so I had to look for another one to see his bald head LOL.
Using this technique was sort of stressing at times, because first the skin was too dark, the shadows were super hard to blend because it was like it erased the part I was blending, etc. The important thing is that I managed to make it all work, et voilà ! I had a very satisfying result.
My grandpa loved it!!
He placed it on a shelf where he had other cards I've made for him.
I also sang a few songs with the ukulele, and I think he was very pleased. I'm glad he spent such a lovely time surrounded by those he loves 😍.
