Who would not want a jiggly, wibbly-wobbly bobbly jelly? Even the kitties love them, too! Except theirs is savoury.
The heat recently has been very dehydrating for pets, so I decided to make a nutritious snack that is tasty and hydrating for my cats.
With just two ingredients: water and bones.
Eww, it's not appetizing! :)
I used chicken leg bones from our roast last night. I simmered them in lots of water for a couple of hours, let them cool, and then boiled them again until the sauce looked cloudy. Cooling it down and then reheating helps further extract the nutrients and the collagen to create a more gelatinous jelly.
Then strain.
Pour into molds.
I added tiny pieces of chicken meat for some extra protein and chewiness.
Place in the refrigerator to set.
Once cooled, it sets nicely.
I pooped them out of the mold.
Some are to freeze, and some are to keep in the fridge for a week.
This jelly is beautifully well-formed. Looks Delectable for my kitties!
The gelatinous texture of the collagen is great for their joints and skin.
Can you stack jellies?
Impossible. :)
"Hey, it's a kitty's food; stop playing with it!" :)
So, I offered a couple of portions to my kitties.
They were licking the jelly and hesitant to bite.
So I slice them into pieces.
Coco was in her mood—she was always picky—sniffed, went away, and came back to eat.
But Blu is full of appetite. He loves it!
Whisker-Licking Good!
Seeing a pet enjoy something you’ve put effort into making is always rewarding.
Super satisfied.
Then he fell asleep!
Happy Caturday, everyone!
