Macaroni Soup With Pumpkin

in #hive-180569last year

I did something weird today. But weird isn't a bad thing. To be able to fill the stomach for dinner. I mixed pumpkin for a clear soup dish. You guys must be weird, right?

On the phone, I complained to my husband who had not come home from work. I told him that tonight I would be making pumpkin for the clear soup. He laughed spontaneously. Can't believe that pumpkin is good for making savory clear soup. He advised me to buy potatoes and carrots at a small shop near my house. But unfortunately, the shop is closed. So, I really didn't have a choice.

Indeed, usually, we just eat pumpkin for sweet dessert, or at least just for stir-fry without gravy. But today is really different.

I always promise to make delicious food even with limited ingredients in my kitchen. As someone who lives far from the city, I have to have lots of ideas for what to make if I suddenly run out of some ingredients and can't go to town to shop. Shopping a lot at once is not an option. I don't want any foodstuffs to spoil or rot if stored too long.

So, for dinner today I mixed pumpkin with macaroni, also peas. Fortunately, I have a pack of macaroni that I haven't opened at all.

About peas, I also stock a can of processed peas which I haven't opened yet. I left it on the canned food shelf because actually I bought the wrong one. I just realized it is processed peas. So, the color will not be bright if mixed with food. But today I really have no choice. Processed peas deserve to be happy this time because I started cooking them.

Well, writing about this dish is really fresh today. I purposely wrote about this recipe right away right after our dinner. This is so I don't forget the detailed cooking time and ingredients for this completely spontaneous recipe. Stay tuned!

THE INGREDIENTS

seasoning

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

MAKING ONION PURE

7134B08D-2A39-4DCB-B1A1-ABB79D77F783.jpeg

First, we need to make onion puree. I used a traditional tool that I also always use to make chili puree.

Mix a teaspoon of salt with red onion and garlic. Then puree them. set aside.

You can also use a blender. But please use less water. Because we're going to stir-fry this puree.

PREPARING ALL INGREDIENTS

Next, prepare pumpkins. I only used half of my little pumpkin. Then cut them into dice shapes.

Also, cut the cherry tomatoes into halves. Anyway, you can use tomatoes in general if you don't like cherry tomatoes.

STIR-FRYING SEASONING

20D0285E-1F43-4CCD-964C-D9A8BB42DE70.jpeg

This step is fairly important. Preheat the oil. This step will make the resulting soup gravy more savory and smell better. In addition, without the stir-fry step, garlic will instead have an unpleasant pungent odor.

Stir-fry onion puree with cinnamon stalk, star anise, also dried cloves. Keep string to prevent the onion puree from burning.

After they become fragrant, then add 800 ml - 100 ml of water according to your preference. Bring the water to a boil before adding the macaroni.

ADDING MACARONI

Add macaroni after the water boils. Then cook for five minutes.

ADDING PUMPKIN

After 5 minutes then add the pumpkin. And cook another 5 minutes.

ADDING TOMATOES AND PEAS

Then add tomatoes and peas. Cook another minute, then turn off the heat. Don't forget to taste the correction. If it's not salty enough, add another half teaspoon of salt. If it's too salty, add more water. Pepper powder can also be added.

SERVINGS!

I served pumpkin macaroni soup with sweet soy sauce and hot chili sauce to add a stronger flavor when mixed with rice.

Quite a shock, my husband said. He didn't think pumpkin could fit well with macaroni for clear/transparent soup. He said it was delicious.

I smile. From the start before, I promised to make it all work great. I thank god for our dinner from potluck ingredients but my husband likes it. How about you? Are you interested in the soup I made?

hello dear friend @anggreklestari good afternoon
This soup looks great, despite having few ingredients
In my city it is common to see pumpkin or squash in the soup, it is not a rare dish for us
I loved the ingredients you used, I appreciate you sharing this recipe
have a nice day

Oh, that's great in your city you use pumpkin or squash for soup 🙂

Have a great day @jlufer

Mak jang, enak betul lah. 🥣🍲

Begitu siap masak langsung habis. Ehehe

Hahaha. Itu sangkingnya enak . Pokoknya gak ada lawan.

The presentation of the dish is so beautiful that it is inevitable to make my mouth water. How beautiful and tasty everything looks, I love the food from these lands so far away from mine, everything seems to me an aphrodisiac. Bravo!...

Thank you so much for your appreciation for my posts. I'm happy if people also like my food photography 🙂

Hi @anggreklestari , that soup turned out so nice.
For us here in Venezuela we use pumpkin in soup, it is normal.
But even though it was weird for you, it didn't limit you to try this ingredient. I congratulate you.
I think that's what cooking is all about, experimenting!

Greetings

Here we just get used for sweet desserts. But now I know there is another yummy option for pumpkin.

Thanks for stopping by 😊

You're indeed a chef. No matter what food you are cooking it always looks very yummy and in actuality of course. I am smiling at your husband's reaction when he knew that you'll cook like that. Such a sweet couple. God bless.

❤️ I started to cook when I was working at capital city. No family. So I have to survive. Glad until now my family love my cooking

I thought you were the pumpkin queen because you love pumpkin so much and almost every food is made from it. I even forgot when was the last time I ate pumpkin :D

I can see easily pumpkin sell in the morning market. So I bought it 😅 glad it can be saver when at home there is no veggie to cook 🤭

the dish is arranged very beautifully, but I don't like pumpkin too much if it is processed into a soup like this @anggreklestari

Good that you made it delicious, sis. Congrats!

I love this kind of dish, especially pumpkin. It might be worth considering using less water in the recipe. You consider the process so well. Have a nice Day dear!

We can use the amount of the water depen on our preference🙂

Have a great day 🌸

Yammy

Yummmy!

I'm a huge fan of soup, and this one looks really appetizing. I love the colors as well.
It's fun; I'd never thought of adding cinnamon or anise flowers to any soup. I must try it and see. It must be an exotic taste to me. Cheers, @anggreklestari 🖤

We often adding cinnamon, star anise and dried cloves. The gravy will be smell good 😊

New innovation in making soup, this is my first time seeing this recipe.

I thought this was a must try as I have lots of pumpkins at home!

In my living area, we can see macaroni soup with chicken in mushroom at wedding party as well. But no pumpkin 😅

Thank you so much, FOODIES!

Wow! That was a lovely dinner and I guess women always find their way out when preparing food and run out of indigent needed, I think it in woman's system naturally. That was a well-prepared meal. Even with the preparation process I knew it going to be yummy, I guess your husband must have enjoyed the meal even without full ingredients. I would like to try it out one day, thanks for sharing this lovely post.

I thought about it, yeah that's natural for women to keep everything good on the dine table. To make sure all family members eat for filling 🙂
Thank you so much for enjoying my post.

Thank you so much, Plant Power Team

Amazing one. There is nothing sweet like been able to do series of mixture to create amazing recipe.. I really wish i could do many of this, but then i hope i will learn something from you. lol
