Vegetables that we love will really be a savior from hunger even though they are prepared in a quick way.
Cooking for a dinner meal is quite tricky. Sometimes we are really tired after activities outside the home. Preparing food afterwards becomes tiring.
Sometimes just looking at the kitchen feels like you have a bad mood. But every day is never the same. We can never buy food every day (if we are not really wealthy people). We still think about saving money instead of spending it on buying dinner meals.
So, preparing a quick and delicious dinner meal is the solution. Taste is very subjective based on one's taste. The important trick, make sure the quick meal is made with your favorite veggies.
That's why it's important for us to stock up on vegetables or other ingredients that we really like. Whatever we like will make it easier for us to accept the meal, even though it's as simple as it is.
So, this time I'm going to share a quick dinner meal made from the veggies that I like, green peas and baby corn! Equipped with Tempeh as a filling protein.
Anyway, this dinner meal for my late dinner. So, I didn't add rice or potato because it was almost bedtime. It's better to avoid carbohydrates this time.
Stay tuned!
The Ingredients
Main Veggies
- 150 grams of green peas
- 150 grams of baby corn
- 100 grams of Tempeh, you can replace it with tofu or other protein ingredients
Seasons
- 2 tablespoons of chopped garlic and red onion
- Thumb-sized piece of ginger
- Enough red chili according to your taste, or you can replace it with red bell pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- less water
- (optional) 1 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce
Cooking Instructions
Prepare Seasoning
You can just use chopped garlic without red onion. I use red onion because that's according to our style here in Indonesian food. Chopped garlic and red onions. Also, a slice of red chilli. Then, flatten ginger.
Remove Hard Part of Green Peas
Remove the right and left hard green peas. I use scissors to speed things up.
Slice Baby Corn
Do not slice baby corn too thin. But not too thick. I just love to eat baby corn which still creates a crunchy texture.
Cook Tempeh
Preheat a pan. Then cook Tempeh for a while without oil. Remove and set aside.
Stir-fry Seasoning
Preheat cooking oil. Then add flattened ginger, chopped red onion and garlic first. Then, followed by adding slices of red chillies or red bell pepper. Stir-fry until they smell good.
Cook Baby Corn and Green Peas
Add baby corn and green peas when the seasoning already smells good. Also add a little water to prevent them from burning.
Add salt, also a little sweet sauce. Cook them until they are the texture you want. Don't forget to correct the taste before removing the dishes.
SERVING
Garlic ginger green peas and baby corn taste seasoned just right! They are also suitable to be served with rice or potatoes.
To be honest, I often cook this type of meal even with a variety of vegetables and protein. Most importantly the seasoning is still the same. What do you think?
