A romantic swan headboard

in #hive-178708last year

At the beginning of this month I welcomed my friend Juliana Rosa, an incredible painter, illustrator and muralist, to my home. Our idea was to do two huge projects: a painted headboard for my bedroom and a large panel on one of the walls in the backyard.

Until Juliana arrived at my house - she traveled about three hours from her hometown - we still didn't know what the designs would be. Even though we had shared a lot of references, we still weren't sure what we were going to put on the walls.

I'll leave the backyard design for a future post and focus on the artwork for my headboard. We started talking in person about the ideas and she immediately said: "I thought of swans, what do you think?"

We were so in tune that I had already thought of swans and even had a sketch of their design pinned up on the wall of my studio. I'd been looking at this sketch for a few weeks, waiting for the moment to use it somewhere. Although I'm not as advanced in painting and drawing as my friend, I've also been having fun creating my own characters.

Juliana began to work her magic and sketch the image that would be my future headboard on her tablet. Then we went into real life, choosing the colors. Luckily we got a paint brand to support our creative project and they sent us lots of colors so we had plenty of options to create with.

Testing colors

Once I had an idea of the colors that would be used, my friend started doing tests on the wall so that we could choose the main colors for the artwork. We had a lot of doubts at this stage, but we ended up choosing the lightest shade of yellow, which actually resembles a custard ice cream to me.

And with the colors chosen, the magic began to happen. After the strokes had been marked out to delimit the drawing, my friend began to paint.

While she was working on the wall, I also decided to do something and started working on this piece of furniture, which is a bedside table and also needed a new coat of paint. But I'll talk about it in detail in a future post.

Here the headboard was already taking shape and gaining very special details, which contributed to making this piece absolutely unique. With each new element that was added, we spent some time admiring it and also thinking about whether that color totally appealed to us. And so the pink heart in the center was replaced by a lighter shade of pink.

Here Juliana was already finishing the painting and she added a gold frame around the yellow paint. This detail was simply wonderful and gave the room extra charm, as the paint shines according to the incidence of sunlight when it enters the room.

A glimpse of what the room looked like during the renovation. A little bit of chaos to liven things up. The photos also reveal the final result of the bedside table, but I'll detail the whole DIY process in the next post. So just focus on Juliana's art. 🤣

Final photos

After all the work, we chose clothes that matched the room and took official photos to share images of the headboard on our social networks and promote our work in renovating, painting and decorating rooms. The idea was to show that the room was magical and looked like a real doll's room. I think we succeede and I'm curious to know what you think.

Hi @silviamaria, Glad to see you in this community with great bedroom design and painting. When designing and painting a bedroom, one should create a design that brings peace and love to the mind. Because living in the bedroom is a group of people who love each other. From that point of view, I agree that the swans kissing couple design that you have chosen is the most suitable.

Hi @silviamaria, you chose a nice design to decorate the room, I liked the tone of the colors are soft and create a warm and cozy atmosphere, your friend has a great talent for painting; the swans look great on the headboard of the bed.

Cheers!
