For the past couple of days I have found myself pausing and taking in scenes amongst all the craziness.
Take yesterday for instance, I was ensconced in a much too large for my hobbit-esque form chair in a waiting room when I got a visit by a little friend.
The little arachnid was determined to be on my carcass for some reason, and we interacted in a battle for corpse supremacy for at least five minutes. That little pencil eraser-sized beastie had some leaps, but I came out the victor, or at least I would like to think I did, as it never made it onto my face as it was so wont to do.
The hubs has spent the last couple of days moving the new low house to its new home. We are repurposing an existing storage shed to the new skeet field so the hubs only has to build one building instead of two. I like that kind of repurposing.
Plus, there's nothing like watching an entire building being moved a 1/4 mile on lodgepole pine skids and a Hawaiian on a tractor.
Because we have so much going on, it took him a couple of days to get the chore done, but get it done he did, and soon that shed will have the clay thrower in it and be fitted with some nice raw edge ponderosa pine siding so that it will match the new high house.
Tuesday, along with weeding pretty much everything, I also crafted The Cupcakes of Death. One of the hub's rifle team kids turned fifteen, and upon learning her favorite color was, black, I proceeded to make the most weird cupcakes that I could possibly could. They were white cake, chocolate mousse filled, white almond buttercream frosted, edible black spray painted monstrosities. Apparently they also tasted decent because the kids (and adults), inhaled them.
Tomorrow, I head back to the bakery for the weekend, with the exception of Saturday, which I will spend crafting a mint chocolate chip Oreo birthday cake for my daughter's best friend. It's definitely birthday season round here right meow.
Today though, today feels a bit sedate with the cool coastal air, the misty rain falling from the sky, and scenes of the corgi who chews up kindling for fun, resplendent against my compost and flour-encrusted eyes.
Aww, that rhymed a bit and flowed nicely off the tongue. Maybe what I really need to do on this misty and grey day is take a bit of a restorative siesta. How nice that would be!
But for now, I gotta get back outside. I fertilized most of the garden this morning before the rains hit, but now that they are abating, I got some calendula seedlings to move and transplant. That, and a sunflower succession to seed.
Because you know, well, it's summer, and there's always something going on...
