Well, that horrible time has come where I now have to make drivetrain repairs or upgrades to my fat bike and I want to get rid of my current, clunky and inefficient 2x9 and go to a 1x11...
I've swapped my 3x9 for a 1x9 on my old hardtail but I've switched to only riding my 29r' fattie exclusively because I'm too lazy to repair little things on all my bikes....
I glanced at youtube and on amazon for how-to videos and prices, respectively, but I was left confused by the videos and shocked by the prices I found.
I don't want an eagle gx setup and that is what youtubers and google-fu seems to steer you towards. I want to spend less than $200 on parts and I can do the rest myself I'm sure. Current chainring is 4-bolt so I think I have a t25 around here somewhere to get those stupid bolts out. (why did they have to make t25....why not just do a 4mm allen...whatever. I bet ParkTool was involved in making you spend unnecessarily to get a tool not used for anything else. but I digress).
This is a good forum thread I found about this topic but I wanted to ask here too: https://www.mtbr.com/threads/2x9-to-cheap-1x10-1x11.1125451/
See here too - frustrating, I have to replace the rear mech...): https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/converting-to-1x-from-2x9-confusion-reigns/
