For my Freestyle Collage No. 17 my theme is "seeking forgiveness". I wanted to explore this concept upon locating a unique statue of person who resembles a female crouched in a position with her head down on her knees. It reminded me of someone praying for relief of some situation.
In the majority of circumstances, when an individual feels he has caused pain, suffering, or even a serious event to occur to others, that person carries a heavy burden of shame.
To relieve himself of that burden, the person may want to ask for forgiveness. On first thought, he may want to shut himself off from others. This is usually done when the person feels that he is not worthy to be forgiven. Shame or guilt may also play a part in this feeling.
However, there are always two sides to any situation. The person who has done the deed, and the other party who feels aggrieved. Sometimes there may never be a true resolution. The person who suffered the wrong may not want to forgive. It's a situation that can be resolved quickly if all parties are willing. Otherwise, the issue may be prolonged. In that case, I feel both individuals won't be able to live a satisfying and fulfilling life going forward.
Asking for forgiveness may seem formidable at the outset. The major hurdle I feel is the person thinking the other party won't be willing to forgive them. Often, admitting one's one fault is difficult. Once you do, there are steps to resolving the issue if done in good faith.
However, giving forgiveness is as important. One must acknowledge that the other person has done a wrong that must be addressed. Being willing to forgive someone is a major step to healing your own heart and soul.
Living a peaceful life by both parties is the ultimate goal.
I leave here my collage theme on forgiveness.
In preparing my theme, the image I drew inspiration from is a pure fractal I created. I love the design of the path. The image resembles a path forward. At the same time, you can travel backward only if you've not destroyed the delicate balance and assistance it took to find your path. If you've broken the trust that paved your way or helped you to succeed in reaching your goal, the return route may not be in place to provide the support you require.
I wanted a serene sunset landscape from which the person is sitting while contemplating his situation. A cave is the perfect setting:
