Just noticed it's' been quite a few days since I made a post, 4 to be exact. I don't know how people manage to post every day, shit post I can imagine 😃, I can do that but I don't want to. But many people post decent quality content every day, so hats off to those guys. Anyway, back to my weekend, since it's about to end very soon. It's been quite a busy one actually. Where shall I start?
SATURDAY
Some of you may know I sold my place last month, my new place isn't ready yet so I'm staying in an airbnb. My brother in law is doing up the new place, and since I can't put pressure on him to speed things up I figured I'd go and help him out with odd jobs. It's a total renovating of the flat, including new toilet (finished), new kitchen (nearly done), new flooring (25% done), and painting all over (not started). Since I have no DIY experience at all, I was assigned to paint the ceiling in one of the rooms. That sounded easy. Or so I thought.
It was really hard work!!! The roller was on an extended pole so I could work from the floor instead of climbing up and down the ladder, and once I dipped it in the paint, it was rather heavy. Initially, it was quite difficult to roll it in a straight line overhead with the right amount of pressure to make sure the paint was applied on evenly. But after a while, I got the hang of it. But boy it was tiring, looking upwards all the time, and the occasional spray of paint flickering down on my face like a drizzle. Apart from getting paint all over my face, and hands (of course) my jeans got their fair share as well
When I finished that evening, both my arms, shoulders and upper body was aching all over. I couldn't even hold my computer mouse with my right hand, and hand to use my left hand awkwardly. Luckily I felt a lot better today after a good night's sleep. My right arm still aches a little, but at least I can use the mouse now.
SUNDAY
Today I went over to my other sister's place for sunday roast lunch. Afterwards, we went for a walk, and saw this most unusual letter box which I had to share with everyone. British red letter boxes are very iconic but this particularly style is not often seen. It's called the Penfold Pillar Box, and is named after its designer JW Penfold. They date back to 1866, and only 300 were made. Less than 100 original ones exist today. In the 80's about 100 replicas were made and installed around the country. This is one of them. Although it's not an original, I still feel pretty chuffed that our little town got a replica.
The most unique feature of the Penfold is its hexagon top, with acanthus leaves and a bud on the very top. The rim of the hexagon top is lined with little red balls all around. I think its so beautiful
Sadly, some people from our town don't seem to appreciate this lovely pillar box. The crest in the front has disappeared and there are many scratches all over. Sigh.
GOING ON HOLIDAY!!!
The highlight of my weekend is that I've finally booked a holiday!!! And it's an overseas one for two weeks!!! I'm going to keep the destination as a little secret as it's still a month away. But I'm really happy as this will be my first holiday in over two years. Life is gradually getting back to normal!!!
