The dirty weekend

Let everyone sweep in front of his own door, and the whole world will be clean.

- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe -

I got dirty today, totally filthy...and I loved it.

Sunday began like most, with a sleep in, then a hearty breakfast of English muffins, jam-packed with bacon and eggs with hot sauce and tomato sauce combined. Trust me, don't knock it until you try it. There was coffee too, a couple Nespresso espresso's, and then I was ready to get dirty.

Before I got dirty I had to go to the porn shop...meaning the hardware store, Bunnings in my case, a legit place to go for all things hardware...well, all things really as they have just about everything a man could need to get down and dirty.

Todays dirty activities were all about pressure cleaning the pavers around my house.

All of the paths and the driveway of my house is paved as per the image above and over winter they tend to discolour with dirt, moss and mold build-up. I usually pressure clean every year although last year I didn't (I'm not sure why but, couldn't be fucken bothered, was possibly the reason) so there's somewhat of a build-up to shift and today was deployment day, operation pressure clean began in earnest.

I use a Kärcher pressure cleaner which is basically a pump that intakes water from a garden hose, performs some internal electricity-powered magic, and pumps out the same water at higher pressure through a nozzle. Once set up and plugged in one simply applies the nozzle to whatever needs pressure cleaning and...it cleans.

With two years of build up I had to get some purpose-made cleaning solution to help move the moss and mold, a basic solution mixed 1:1 with water, applied with a watering can, left for 15 minutes and pressure washed off. It worked a treat.

It's sort of fun doing pressure cleaning...until one's back starts to hurt from bending slightly, and hands and forearms ache from operating the damned spray nozzle all day. Other than that it's fun....Except for the fact that one gets very dirty, and I don't mean in a pleasurable sort of way. The dirt, grime, moss and mold goes everywhere and one gets quite messy, again, not in a pleasurable way.

I have a few hundred square metres of paved areas to pressure clean so it's not something I can do in a day. I was also interrupted by a couple friend who dropped in to fuck up my work flow, although they brought lunch and I forgave them for slowing me down. Because I'm me I like to clean up the mess as I go so at the end of operation pressure clean - day one I made sure the place was tidy for the week ahead and then next weekend I'll redeploy and get dirty again.

Who doesn't like a dirty weekend, am I right? But this one wasn't one of those dirty weekends unfortunately, you know, boy/girl/no inhibitions. Still, it was quite enjoyable as seeing the end result of a day of toil and effort is a pretty cool thing, or so I think.

It's late Sunday afternoon now and time for a shower, a change of clothes and some contemplation around what I'm going to have for dinner. It's a take-out night tonight, I'm too bloody sore and tired from a day of getting dirty to cook. I'm thinking Thai food.

I hope y'all have had a great weekend so far; drop me a comment and let me know what you're up to, especially if you've had a dirty weekend of working around the house getting some DIY done. What are you doing and how's it going? But regardless what you've been up to, feel free to let me know below.

🤣🤣🤣 surely there's nothing pleasurable about it. You had a dirty time and I love that you made yourself so dirty😅.. I had a lazy Sunday, busy with the lyrics of Bruno Mars's Lazy Song. I need that laziness right now but sadly not for long though.😞😞

Lazy Sundays are the best! I'm sort of having one now...on the couch, TV on, snacks...feeling sore from all that work today!. 🙄

😂😂😂 got the unsaid message perfectly well the emoji says it all😆😆. Just add some balm to help the soreness and be lazy a little.

Lol the word play! And this came right after reading some "interesting" posts from this week's weekend engagement! :P

Haha, yeah there's been some very interesting posts from the #weekend-engagegement huh? I did that particular topic as a little joke but people seem to have related to it as so many wrote about it.

Yeah we all have a fun side behind all that seriousness! Hehe!

Busy busy, you really don't know how to sit still for long. Hope that pain eases up soon, although it probably feels great to have had a productive day like that.

Have a good one

Cheers

If something needs doing, and I'm able to do it then I do it. It just makes sense I guess.

A Kärcher? A good, ol' German Kärcher?! That made me smile this morning.

No dirty weekend for me although our car could use a good scrub. But this long weekend was reserved for relaxing - not that getting dirty wouldn't do that job yet I opted for drawing instead.

The Germans know how to engineer something for sure. My Kärcher gets plenty of use.

Sunday began like most, with a sleep in, then a hearty breakfast of English muffins, jam-packed with bacon and eggs with hot sauce and tomato sauce combined.

And you're telling me now, when there's probably nothing left of it 🙁

Should have said something last night, to give me time to shop up for breakfast 😂

Looks like you had a dirty weekend and you're gonna feel the effects the next days.

Lol, I'd have shared if you were around at the time...Well, I would have made you some at least. 🙂

I'm feeling a little worse for wear indeed. My hands are probably the worst from gripping and moving the jet nozzle back and forth. I'll live though. I'm tough...except when I'm not.

Thank you!

Maybe you need to practice more then? To avoid muscle pain/soreness 🤣😎

Hmm, there's an idea...I mean, I practice sitting on the couch eating snacks and watching shows and movies and I'm really good at it so yeah, maybe practicing working more might be a god idea.

Hello @galenkp, glad you have finally been able to do some cleanup. I personally hate cleaning because of the stress it involves but I certainly do cleanup from time to time.

My weekend has been good so far. Courtesy of this week's Weekend Engagement, I had so much fun taking part in it and engaging with other writers. Thank you for that.

Right now I'm sitted in the church, feeling really weak and I just can't wait to get home and sleep.

I've been unwell and I'm just recovering. It's still morning over here and in the evening I'll be going to see the doctor for the last time (last time this year, I hope. I don't wish to be this sick again).

It's my last day to get two bottles of drip flowing into my veins. I've been doing this for five days now. I'm nervous as hell and I will never get used to needles, they frighten me a lot. Well, I've been surviving these few days and I believe this final day won't kill me.

That is all from this end. I hope the new week will be much better.

Seems like you're a bit under the weather but hopefully the medications you're taking h lp get you feeling better and back on track.

It's good to hear you're reading some of the #weekend-engagement posts and engaging with the authors, that's one if the benefits of getting involved, the relationships you can form.

All the best for your Sunday and the week ahead.

I thought I was going to read some dirt as one of the entrees you left us for this weekend.😉

I hope you are already resting and your back pain goes away quickly.🤗

On this side of the world, Sunday is just getting started.🌞

Oh yeah, the sexy-time writing prompt. I thought about doing one but wasn't sure if the blockchain would be able to cope with the heat and intensity of it. 😊

That's why I was careful...I don't know how far I can go 😅
I don't want to be silenced

I understand.

Hello @galenkp

It turns out that you also dare to get dirty and the results are clean.

Many people carry out cleaning and repairs with their own hands. But some people prefer to lie down and laze around with the excuse of taking a break from their Sunday routine.

I also do a lot of things on my days off. Like this Sunday, I took my 7 year old son to wash his bike. We shared tasks, I cleaned my motorbike which was a little muddy on the tires and under the spartboard after passing through a muddy road due to rain 2 days ago.

At first my son objected to washing his bicycle on the grounds that it was not dirty and he was busy with his little cat. I had the crazy idea of getting my son's bicycle tire dirty with muddy mud from my motorcycle.

After he saw his bicycle tires were dirty, he became very surprised because he felt he had never used them on muddy ground. He soon became aware that it was because of me. !LOL

Thankfully, he was also willing to wash his bike. We splashed each other with water a few times while joking around. Including me having to repeatedly wipe my motorbike which he wetted repeatedly.

It's the busyness and responsibility of men on a day off, isn't it?

I think it's good to do some hard work, to toil and make some effort. I like relaxing too of course, but getting things done around the house is always rewarding.

I like that you and your son worked together, it's a good bonding moment I think.

All th best for the rest of the day and the week to come.
