Hello everyone. Welcome back to my participation in the Saturday Savers Club for 2022. Two weeks ago, I set out my 2022 goals for the Club, which I listed below. This week, I wanted to explain why I feel so strongly about saving and the concept of the Saturday Savers Club to assist me in my goals. When I stated earlier that 2022 was going to be an awesome savings year for me, I meant exactly that because I'm relying heavily on the Club's philosophy: "start small and start today."
As a child, there was no disposal income. Living at poverty level was not a choice for my family. It was a fact of life. As an young adult, I swore never to be in that situation again.
I worked hard to ensure my family was financially secure. I was fortunate to meet the right people at the right time in my life who helped me understand the importance of having a savings and how to accomplish it. I've always believed as my mom taught us, that people are placed in your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.
Over the years, I've known many friends, and even had family, who told me they had no savings and couldn't save any amount because they had no disposal income.

They told me this while holding an expensive latte, fast foods, or bragging about other shopping items they stated they really didn't need. Also, they came asking for financial assistance. It was an extremely hard decision for me to help them knowing they had not even attempted to help themselves by saving even a small amount.
Even though I had more than enough funds, I knew I was wasteful. I needed to stop and take a look at where my funds were being spent and if for useful purposes. Those funds I wasted could be saved for emergency funds, donations to charities, or helping family members.
In 2021, the Saturday Savers Club held a "No Buy Month". During that time, members created a list of items they could do without during the month. It was an eye-opener for me. I thought I was careful, but listing all my expenditures during on a monthly basis made me realize how much I was engaging in needless spending. **I saved about $1,000 at the end of that no-buy month.
Having been blessed over the year with more than enough for my own family's needs, I then set out to save for emergency usage for various unexpected expenditures. This approach has served me well.
However, when I became aware of the Saturday Savers Club in January, 2020, I was tasked with developing a reason to save. This provided me more incentive to do what I was already accomplishing both off and online.
Here's what I know about the Saturday Savers Club:
It's for anyone who wants to save in any currency for any purpose;
It's a supportive group of people who meet around the weekly post from @eddie-earner, usually on a Saturday, to share tips and techniques. Fun is always included with @shanibeer at the helm guiding us;
The Club recommends a framework or a target once you start saving. The Club utilizes their 365 Penny A Day Challenge. The program begins slow. What I mean by slow is that you hardly notice you're saving by putting aside just 1 penny on day one; 2 pennies on day two, until day 365 when you save 365p and have saved 66,795 pennies or £667.95;
For 2022, the Saturday Savers Club is going to use the weekly chart shown below.
You can do the 365 Day Challenge with any unit of currency - pennies, cents, hive, bitcoin - whatever you have lying around and you can easily get your hands on. You can keep physical pennies in a jar, or save them in an account, maybe a credit union account, or save digital pennies in your hive wallet;
Members, including me, are a fun group of Hivers who love to engage, not only on Saturday during the Club meeting over on the Club post, but other times as you'll find you make new friends who share a common goal..supporting each other in their saving and other efforts on Hive.

- You can join the Club and start saving at any time of the year.

NOW, for 2022, I adopted a new strategy as I'm starting fresh saving both Hive and HBD. If you missed my last week's post, below are my goals:

- Reach 1K in Leo
- Reach 1K in CubLife
- Reach 100 EDS Miners
